Task 3. Look into the Details.

Cite an example to illustrate that our curriculum is learner-centered, integrated,
and inter-disciplinary.

A curriculum usually includes explanations of specific goals. Indicate the

selection and organization of content; or suggest or demonstrate certain learning and
teaching modes, or because they are necessary for the organization of content. We
can see that our curriculum is slowly changing from teacher centered to learner
centered. Our curriculum today is learner centered and we can prove it by showing
the activities that make the curriculum learner centered. Some examples of these
activities include written reflections, open debates, writing of newspaper articles,
presentations, and field trips. These activities gather students and provide them with

options to generate interest and enthusiasm. Students have been given the
opportunity to express and identify their learning needs. They are able to construct
their own knowledge based on their interests and needs.

Integrated curriculum can also be seen in our curriculum today because we can see
that our curriculum is suggesting learning through traditional subject areas and
learning experiences designed to complement each other. This method improves the
child's ability to transfer learning outcomes to other settings. We can also see that the
teachers are Innovative because they are interested in improving student
performance and are looking for ways to create a rigorous, relevant and exciting
curriculum.

We can also see that our curriculum is interdisciplinary because the programs in
the curriculum today involve the use of knowledge horizons and teaching methods,
which consciously use the methodology and language of multiple disciplines to explore
the central theme, problem, problem, theme or experience. Our curriculum also
focuses on a broad field of learning because this is how students experience things in
reality and the planned learning experience not only provides students with a unified
view of shared knowledge but also stimulates and develops students’ ability to absorb
new knowledge.

✍Task 4. Find some Application.

In a continuum from traditional to new environment, where would you position

your school? Place an X mark where you think your school is.

On the space below, write a brief explanation to your answer.

I think I would place the X in number 9 because our school is usually media
driven. We can see that most of the teachers are using technology as their tool in
teaching. They also make sure that the curriculum is learner centered. Teachers are
not the source of knowledge because students can also express their knowledge about
a certain topic. Schools in the 21st century use technology to promote the emergence
of new learning processes. Now, focusing on acquiring knowledge and skills has
Page 4 of 4

become a lifelong task that requires time and energy for continuous improvement.
From traditional chalk and lectures, to the preparation of many multi-faceted Manila
papers, to the use of projectors and LCD monitors, learning has become more
convenient and relaxing. Though i mark it in 9 since teachers are still using the
traditional test or the standardized test to measure the understanding of students.

✍Task 5. Give your insights.

Do you see these characteristics in yourselves as students? How do you relate

to them considering these characteristics? Write your reflections on the lines below.

From my point of view I can say that I can see the characteristics in

myself as a student. How did I say so? I know that I have the skill in managing or

facilitating those digital tools especially that this generation is media driven. I need

to adapt to the new trends because it is needed in making things creative and unique.

I am also an independent person because I know that being independent means I'm

strong. I need to become independent because not all the time there was a person at

our side. I am also an open minded person. I know how to listen to others idea,

information, and arguments that I’m not aligned with. I make sure that all things that

I've done are creative. The activities I'd pass were unique. These characteristics were

needed especially today because we are doing an online class. Being knowledgeable in

things will make us qualified to the standards needed to become successful in life.
