INTRODUCTION TO PHILOSOPHY

I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the session, the learners are expected to:


a. Recognize human activities that emanated from deliberate reflection;
b. Recognize the reflection as an important aspect of philosophy;
c. Realize the value of doing philosophy in obtaining a broad perspective on life.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

III. PROCEDURE

A. Preliminary Activities
The teacher should:
• Greet the class;
• Ask them to pick up all the trash they can find beneath or around their
chairs;
• Call a student to lead the prayer;
• Observe safety health measures; and
• Introduce the Classroom Rules:

Instructions:
1. Let the students discuss their initial ideas regarding these questions.
2. Have the students answer discuss on page 5.
3. Discuss the famous ancient philosophers and their significant contributions
to philosophy.
4. Let the students make a graphic organizer summarizing the information
discussed in the text.

 Let them present to the class about the four major philosophical questions
regarding human existence.
 Ask the student of what they know of what we discussed about what we
discuss under the Ancient Greek Philosopher
 Ask the students about the contribution of the most notable Ancient Greek
Philosophers.

Application

Reflection:
Encourage them to be creative in making their posters.

C. Evaluation

Essay:
1. What other philosophical questions have you asked yourself?
2. Do you think that you will be able to figure out the answer to those
philosophical questions? Explain.

D. Assignment
1 What are the reasons that compel a person to engage in philosophical thinking?
