CAUTION:
I Disconnect both terminals from battery in advance.
I Disconnect air bag module connector in advance.
I Be careful not to scratch finishers and other parts.
I Never tamper with or force air bag lid open, as this may adversely affect air bag performance.
REMOVAL — Instrument panel assembly
Instrument panel assembly Combination meter Audio control Heater and A/C control
Remove driver’s air bag module and steering wheel. Tilt steering column down
Refer to “SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM” in RS fully
section for details.

1 Steering column cover
I Remove screws.

2 Instrument lower panel driver side.
I Remove screws and bolts.
q
3 Cluster lid A
I Remove screws.
q
4 Combination meter
I Remove screws, then disconnect harness connectors.
q
5 Glove box assembly
I Remove screws.
I Then disconnect passenger air bag module connec-
tor.
I Then remove passenger air bag module bracket.
Refer to “SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM” in
RS section for details.

6 Remove ashtray.
q
7 Cluster lid C
I Remove screws, then disconnect harness connectors.
q
8 Audio and deck pocket
I Remove screws, then disconnect harness connectors.

9 Heater and A/C control
I Disconnect temperature control cable and harness connectors.
q
10 Instrument stay cover lower center
I Remove screws.
q
11 Ventilator grille driver side
q
12 Defroster grille
q
13 Instrument panel assembly
I Remove screws and bolts.

14 Air duct passenger side
I Remove screws.

15 Passenger air bag module

1 Remove front and rear seats. Refer to “SEAT” for details, in BT section of Service Manual Pub. No.
SM7E-0D22G1.

2 Remove front and rear seat belts. Refer to “SEAT BELTS” in RS section for details.

3 Remove body side trim. Refer to “Side and Floor Trim” for details, BT-7.

4 Remove sun visors.
q
5 Remove spot lamp assembly.
q
6 Remove inside mirror assembly.
q
7 Remove interior lamp assembly.
q
8 Remove assist grips.
q
9 Remove rear window weatherstrip and remove rear window glass.
q
10 Remove clips, then remove headlining.
