a. The overall steam rate. Ans. 5.62 kg/kW-hr
b. The ideal heat rate. Ans. 3.3 kJ/kW-s
c. The developed boiler hp required to generate this steam at 1.15 factor of evaporation.
Ans. 8259.42 bo. hp.
d. The Rankine Engine Efficiency. Ans. 30.34%

2. Steam entering the turbine has a rate of 10 kg/s with enthalpy of 3400 kJ/kg and 2600 kJ/kg
at the exhaust. If 100 KW of heat is rejected from turbine casing, what is the turbine power?
Ans. 7900 KW

3. A steam turbine has an entrance enthalpy of 3050 kJ/kg. The exit has 2500 KJ/kg. Determine
the actual enthalpy after isentropic expansion if stage efficiency is 90%. Ans. 2555 kJ/kg
4. A steam enters the turbine at the rate of 11000 kg/hr with enthalpies 3000 kJ/kg and 1000
kJ/kg at the entrance and exhaust respectively. Steam is extracted from the turbine at 3500
kg/hr for feedwater heating purposes with enthalpy of 2700 kJ/kg. Calculate the turbine
power. Ans. 4458.33 kW
5. A steam turbine has an entrance enthalpy of 3400 kJ/kg and 2500 kJ/kg at exit. If generator
generates 2430 KW and has 90% efficiency, what is the mass of steam entering the turbine?
Ans. 10800 kg/hr

6. A turbine has an efficiency of 75% and a kilowatt output of 5500 at full load. If the available
isentropic energy is 1200 kJ/kg, determine the steam flow at the turbine per hour.
Ans. 22000 kg/hr

engine is 70% and the power output at full load is 5.5 MW. What is the engine steam rate at
full load in kg/kW-hr? Ans. 3.55 kg/kW-hr
