2.Installation
2.1.Overview
After the arrival of fan, all of the parts should be checked to see if they are complete,。our

company should be informed as soon as possible in case the drawings defects and deviations
be inconsistent with If any damage occurs in the transportation company should be
immediately informed to take appropriate remedial measures 。 Some parts have been
pre-assembled before leaving the factory and conducted the tags before dismantling and
packaging。Other parts of the entire group of transport, including the impeller groups, import
regulatory doors, rotating group (including the spindle).
The following section outlines the newly-recommended installation procedure, notify and
conform the following specific preventive measures in the installation process.
Some set alignment should be recorded in the inspection report during the installation process.
All the connection flanges should be sealed with asbestos ropes
2.2. Parts storage
Before loading and unloading components in the fan, measures should be taken to ensure the
safety of arrival of the goods at the site。Careless handling and installation can cause damage
to the goods.
2.2.1.All parts should be stored in a timber sleeper and well-ventilated.
2.2.2. Impeller, the transfer unit, and all loose parts, namely, bolts, nuts, instruments must be
kept under the isolated hood or inside the box.
2.2.3.Case, inlet control valve, suction, impeller, rotating group should be lifted with lug or
rigging, which connected to the flange hole
2.2.4 Transfer unit on the main shaft and impeller in the lifting and installation must be well
protected, to prevent damage.
2.3.Foundation checks
2.3.1.Check before the beginning of the installation。Fan foundation should serve as a guarantee
mechanical precision, vibration absorbing, required sufficient strength to ensure the
consistence to the relative height, the anchor bolt locations required by the overall plan
2.3.2. Check the second grouting desired height.
2.3.3. Check the relevant data of platform,
2.3.4. Mark the centerline on the platform and the foundation
2.3.5. If the foundation is qualified, where the anchor bolt anchor bolt should be placed in the bolt
anchor bolt pits according to the general plan, It is necessary that the anchor bolts be placed
vertically in its bolt anchor pits
2.3.6. Non-grouting at this stage
2.3.7. All the surface need to grouting should be avoided oil, grease and dirty.
2.4.Anchor bolt grouting (After Alignment)
This section provides an overview of the anchor bolt grouting ,and in the installation process
of fan and its ancillary equipment should use this procedure。
2.4.1. Check the alignment before grouting
2.4.2.In order to pour slurry into the anchor bolt pits, it is recommended to remove the sizing
block。 If necessary, the equipment can be lifted slightly so that sizing block can be removed
2.4.3.Slurry in the anchor bolt pits should be reached the top of the platform, to ensure filling
2.4.4.After solidification the sizing blocks may be place to its original position and close to the

anchor bolts as possible so that they are placed firmly
2.4.5. If there is no destruction after checking the alignment of equipment, do not allow
deformation of the fan seat, when tightening anchor bolts.
2.4.6. Do not grout at this stage pin, grouting is done after the fan is installed.
After the overall supports are installed in place, install anchor bolts, adjust the pad of anchor
bolts of the foundation
2.5.The installation of casing
Casing is divided into several parts due to the large size ,all parts are equipped with flanges
connected with bolts.
2.5.1. Recommend to equip the removable parts temporarily, so as to avoid the deformation of the
installation process.
2.5.2.Lift the bottom of the casing, put into the pad, adjust the casing so that the side plate is
vertical, adjust the plate and the attached pad so that the case is horizontal .Release the
detachable part of the case bolts and remove them in order to facilitate Impeller to install
Note: each part can also be hoisted in place one by one, and then connected with bolts
2.6.Impeller assembly
The impeller should be installed at the shaft end of the transmission group, it must be set by
heat and not be adopted forced installation
2.7.The installation of transfer unit the impeller, and air inlet
2.7.1. Lift the transfer unit equipped with the impeller, install the plate on a prepared
foundation。
2.7.2. Allow 5mm thick pad under the base, adjust the base to the correct height,
2.7.3. The level of base is very necessary. and two degrees in the horizontal direction, with the
horizontal instrument to determine the level of transfer unit on both sides。Check that the
inserted depth of inlet to impeller is compliance with drawing requirements, and adjust their
radial clearance meet the drawing requirements, if it meets the requirement, connect air inlet
to the casing with the bolt
2.7.4. If alignment is qualified, tighten the anchor bolts of the bearing seat
2.8. The final installation of casing
2.8.1. The detachable parts of the casing are positioned and used bolt connection.
8.2.Connect suction flange to the casing side panel with bolts.
2.9.Installation of inlet control valve and actuator
2.9.1. Lift the inlet control valve to the flange on the suction and connect with bolts.
2.9.2. Lifting electric actuator in place, and tighten the anchor bolts.
2.9.3. Connect the drive handles of electric actuator and adjusting gate to electric actuator drive
unit together.
2.9.4. Check and adjust the actuators to enabled all the guide vanes from full close to the full open
position, ensure that all connecting rods are fixed to the handle of their own and fasten all of
the connections.
2.10. Alignment and installation of coupling and motor
2.10.1. Installation of fan and motor half coupling, Shaft and coupling is of the transition fit, it is

recommended to heat half coupling in oil so that it can be easy to install.
2.10.2.Lift the motor onto the foundation, align it with the fan shaft in accordance with the
following method in order to achieve the required level degree.
2.11.Alignment steps
Coupling must be aligned in radial and angular directions, the shaft must aligned at this stage
2.11.1. In order to fan the motor shaft axis as the base to align the motor shaft change motor
position by adjusting the washer to meet the requirements, ensure that the gap between fan
and motor should meet the general plan requirements.
2.11.2. when some devices operating at high-speed or at high-temperature ,the thermal expansion
compensation amount of motor or hydraulic coupling should be considered. Motor
anti-condensation heaters (if any) must be open。difference between the amount of thermal
expansion at both ends of should generally be measured or calculated in advance during
operations。Difference should be reserved during old adjustment to guaranteed shafts
alignment at high temperature, thus ensuring the system to operate safely under thermal
condition.
2.11.3. After obtaining satisfactory results of alignment and the installation of coupling, tighten the
anchor bolt motor.
2.11.4. Also check the alignment of coupling after thermal operation
Alignment restrictions:
Radial alignment: no more than 0.05mm
Angular alignment: less than 0.2/1000
3. Operation
3.1. Introduction
This section describes necessary procedures of the fan starting and stopping which only
served as a recommended procedure and the can be changed according to site engineers.
3.2. Safety precautions
Installation and operation and maintenance must be in accordance with instructions in the
manual, all work must be performed by suitable trained personnel.
The following special issues should be noted .
1)Check the gates and hood
Check the inlet control valve or the valve is fully open or closed, with or without any
abnormal movements during the operation, when the fan is running all of the shield hoods
should be installed.
2)Impeller
Should regularly check the impeller corrosion, cracks or unbalanced.
3)Casing
Check regularly the chassis of the dust on the casing, any fouling should be removed in order
to avoid a decline in fan performance.
4)Installation
Ensure that mechanical and electrical equipment of fan are installed correctly.

5)Operation
Fan must be in operation under its design conditions, pay particular attention to the control of
temperature and media.
3.3. Pre-start procedures
The procedure must be complied with for the first time, or overhaul, the long-term parking
time start.
3.3.1Fan preparation
1)Check the alignment of main shaft with motor.
2)To ensure that lubrication of bearings and all the equipment is full of recommended lubricants
and grease to the correct oil level.
3)Check the fan inlet side and outlet side, to ensure the free passage of air.
4)Check all bolts are fully tightened, if loose, may damage the fan, especially for motor,
coupling, bearing plate and foundation bolts.
5)Check motor shaft and fan impeller is rotating in the right direction, confirm that there is no
abnormal on the motor side
6)Check there is no debris, such as wrenches, nuts or bolts which stay in the fans inside, because
these things will be severely damaged when the fan rotating
7)After in the lubricating oil to the bearing housing, rotate the impeller at least a lap manually to
ensure the impeller and the casing has enough space.
8)Check if there is any water in the fan and the pipe.
9)After determining all personnel have been the withdrawn from fan, fasten all the man-hole and
checking doors.
Check the operation inlet control valve to ensure fully open or fully close properly.
3.3.2. The first start of the fan
1)Check if the bearing oil level is normal.
2)Close outlet baffle or inlet control valve, in order to reduce motor load at start-up.
3)Start-up the motor, press the switch to conduct the barring, check the fan rotation direction is
correct, check the sound from inside the fan, bearings and motors to confirm no anomalies,
and then connect to start the switch until they reach full speed date, closely monitor its status.
During this period should confirm that there is no abnormality in sound, vibration, current, etc.
4)After outlet baffle has been open fully and then open the inlet control valve gradually, if the
baffle has gradually opened up, the surge will occur in the a small flow, in this case, open
rapidly the inlet control valve within the range to avoid the surge operation, and put full-load
operation.
5)Check bearing temperature, and observe any abnormal temperature fluctuations.
6)Check the bearing housing oil level and compare with the design value.
3.4. Conventional start-up procedures
1)Check the oil level.
2)Close the outlet baffle and inlet control valve, to reduce the load when the motor starts.
3)When start fan, if open inlet control valve, the fan drive motor may be overloaded.
4)Open outlet baffle fully and then gradually open the inlet control valve until to obtain the

required output, fans can not be run when the inlet control valve is completely closed, to avoid
excessive vibration and temperature rise.
5)Check bearing temperature, and observe any abnormal temperature fluctuations.
6)Check if bearing temperature of the fan and motor is below alarming value.
7)Check the temperature is the motor winding and any other control loop is below the alarming
settings.
3.5.Normal operation
When fans start and run properly, the following routine matters should be paid attention to:
1)The bearing is cooled (75 ℃ below).
2)The oil of the bearing level should be in the highest and lowest operating range.
3)There is no excessive noise and vibration from the fans.
4)The control load of fan can be adjusted according to the following methods: open the inlet
control valve to increase load regulation, close the inlet control valve to reduce load regulation.
Ensure that fans do not appear to run under the conditions of surge, because the surge have
serious damage to duct and its subsidiaries
3.6.Stop procedures
1)Close the main drive motor.
2)Close the isolation baffle and inlet control valve.
3.7. Emergency / Alarm Action

3.7.2. Bearing housing is intensive vibration
1)Check the concentricity of fan shaft and motor shaft.
2)Check the main shaft bending.
3)Check impeller balance.
4)Check the bearing damage and loosening of anchor bolts.
3.7.3 Bearing temperatures is high
1)Check bearing oil level is normal, if the oil level is low, check the system leaks and correct.
2)Check the oil quality.
3)Be ready to stop fans when trip temperature conditions is expected to reach.
4)After the fan has stopped, consideration should be taken to dismantle bearing box and check
inside it.

4.Maintenance
4.1.Safety precautions
4.1.1. Safety precautions before Maintenance
Carrying out any maintenance before the fan the following preventive measures must paid
attention to:
1)Get a work permit.
2)Confirm fan is in a state of electrical insulation, that is, the power supply to fan and ancillary
equipment should be turned off, and maintain the state before finishing maintenance.
Otherwise, it results in a sudden move of some parts, leading to maintenance personnel
casualties.
3)Determine the fan has completely stopped.
4)To determine fan isolation baffle closed.
5)To open into the Confucian and maintain adequate ventilation.
6)Determine the fans of staff in the safe state.
4.1.2.After the Maintenance of the safety precautions
Maintenance work is completed to take the following safety precautions.
1)Check all the components through the repair the bolts are fastened.
2)Check the parts used have been re-lubrication.
3)Check all external equipment, tools and debris have been withdrawn from fans.
4)Rotating impeller a ring manually to identify impeller rotating freely.
5)After all personnel has been withdrawn from fan installation, re-install man-hole and fasten it.
6)Identify all power has been restored.
7)The return of a work permit.
4.2.Protection of fan parts
1)Bearing housing:If the bearing housing has been disintegrated, it must be carefully protected
from dust intrusion and damage bearings.
2)The impeller and main shaft: Do not support the impeller blades or the shroud cover, if the
outer edge of the impeller serves as a support, its weight should exert on the role of the wheel
on. Do not lift the impeller in the shroud cover and blades .when lifting impeller, lifting slings
must go through the lifting hole in the impeller, and pay attention to protect the spindle surface
to prevent scratches and bumps.
4.3. lubrication procedures
Lubrication of moving parts in a reasonable access to equipment for optimal performance is
necessary, the following procedures outlined in the installation of lubrication. The lubricant
listed below can be replace with the equivalent lubricant made by other manufacturers.

4.4.Routine Maintenance
4.4.1. Each eight-hour maintenance projects
The following items should be at least once every eight hours and shift once the initial
inspection.
1)Bearing no fever (less than 75 ℃ and - the oil level normal).
2)The value of bearing vibration is normal.
4.4.2. Daily Inspection Project
1)Check the bearing temperature
2)Check the bearing oil level, the new oil should be added if the oil level is too low.
3)No excessive noise and vibration from the fan.
4.4.3. Weekly Inspection Project
1)A comprehensive inspection date of the project.
2)Check abnormal noise and vibration of the coupling, determine that the shields hood have
been fastened
3)Check the bearing leakage, abnormal noise and vibration. Meanwhile check if the oil level is
normal.
4)Check if the fan device is obvious defects, such as the bolts loose.
5)Check the fan bearing temperature
6)Check the fan bearing vibration.
4.4.4.A two-month maintenance project
1)A comprehensive contents of weekly inspection
2)Shaft shield hood: examine fastening connection.
3)To extract the oil sample from the bearing housing checks, if the color changes, or suspect
contamination, chemical testing should be conducted
4)The man-hole and inspection doors should be checked in order to achieve a satisfactory
opening and closing requirements.
4.4.5.Annual Inspection
1)A comprehensive two-month inspection of the projects.
2)Impeller

Check the impeller, blade corrosion and cracks, if cracks should immediately consult with my
company, if not, the impeller can be used again rather than repair, but checking a balance,
such as the need for on-site balancing
3)Foundation
Check the crack deformation and other damage, such as maintenance, inspection, re-fastening.
4)Casing of fan
Check all external connections is fastened, and fastening of all anchor bolts.
5)Check the alignment of drive unit, check the impeller in the chassis of the location and the
level of the shaft, adjust if necessary
6)Fan Bearing:
Inspection, adjustment, change if when necessary.
7)The inlet control valve:
Check freedom of the guide vane through full distance, check wear and tear of the guide vane
and shaft, if necessary, repair or replace
4.5.Impeller Maintenance
Attention: Due to the use of alloy steel, maintenance impeller need a special welding
technology, this action should first consult with my company.
4.5.1.Removal and installation of impeller, main shaft
In order to facilitate maintenance and replacement of the impeller, the impeller should be
removed from main shaft.
1)Remove the coupling guard.
2)Remove bearing instrumentation.
3)Remove main shaft seal.
4)Remove connecting bolts of split part of the casing, lift open shell split.
5)Bleeding off lubrication oil from bearing housing. Remove connecting bolts of bearing
housing upper-half and caps.
6) Lift main shaft and impeller group with padded lifting strings. Do not run into main shaft or
bearings, withdraw them carefully from shell and rest them on stand to protect bearings.
Check all parts before installation, and special attention should be paid on impeller, shaft and
transmission bearings, installation steps of impeller / Spindle Unit are contrary to its demolition.
4.5.2. Removed the impeller from the spindle
Heat the wheel to increase the diameter of hub and then removed impeller (keep main shaft
cold). This action is not encouraged unless in a special circumstances. Discuss with my
company for preparation of detailed instruction if needed.
Impeller replacement shall follow the instruction listed below.
4.5.3. Install impeller on the spindle
All preparation work for positioning the impeller should be completed before assembling.
Use the following instructions:
1) lubricate spindle with molybdenum disulfide.
2) If heating is needed, impeller should be heated in shaft disk, from the outer edge to the inward.
Either gas or heat lamp can be used to heat; Steps to cool spindle are in a contrary way.

3) Do not use hammers to installed impeller.
4.5.4. Balance
Balancing test should be conducted after any examination of the impeller. Please contact with
our company before any examination and repair, due to the exceedingly carefulness and
specific techniques needed to change and balance impeller.
Impeller must be dynamic balance, and accuracy grade is 5.6. Wheel covers, the total area the
wheel balance weight on the wheel cover and tray can not be too large, clump weight must be
firmly welded , and be located in the middle of the welding seam that connecting adjacent
blades, on surface of wheel covers and wheel.
Ground when weld impeller to avoid bearing damage.
4.5.5. Spindle adjustment
There are two possible measures to take when there are damages in part where spindle and
bearing fit.
1) Change a new spindle.
2) Spindle can be processed, after painting and electroplating can be processed to the original size.
It is allowed only after connection with our company
4.5.6. Malfunction analysis
Malfunction analysis is introduced, which might be helpful for maintenance personnel
