1. Hardware, System Software, and Application Software. What are they and how do they
relate to each other?
Computer hardware is any part of computer that you can physically touch. These are
tangible components that a computer system requires to operate and function. They can be used as
an input, output, or storage device. While system software refers to the program which makes up
the Operating System. On the other hand, application software are computer programs designed to
perform a group of coordinated functions, or activities for the benefit of the user.
2. Discuss the purpose of the Motherboard, Power Supply, CPU, and Hard Disk Drive in a
computer system.
Motherboard, also known as MOBO, is the main circuit board of the computer where all
other components are connected to. Power supply is the component that converts 240VAC from
outlets into DC Voltage to supply power into the system unit. CPU interprets and carries out the
instructions or commands in each program or software. It does all the Arithmetic and Logical
calculations for the computer to perform its tasks. Hard Disk Drive or HDD is a storage device used
to store computer programs and files. This is where the operating system is stored and other
application programs used by computer user in computer utilization.
5. List down at least two (2) Word Processing Applications and two (2) Presentation
Applications. Discuss their differences, similarities, functions, purposes, and importance.
Two example of word processing applications are Microsoft Word and Google Docs. MS
Word is the most common word processor available in the market and is included in the Microsoft
Office Suite for offline installation. It is a one-time installation available for both MAC and Windows
OS. While on the other hand, Google Docs is a web-based word processing application included in
the google workplace, mainly used in editing documents online. It is very useful in collaboration
since two or more users can edit the document at the same time. It is easy to use and easy to access
since it can be opened using our favorite browser.
Two example of presentation applications are Microsoft PowerPoint and Google Slides.
Similar with MS Word, MS PowerPoint is included in the MS Office Suite installed offline into our
computers. While Google Slides is a web-based application accessed using our web browsers.
Google Slides is free to use and only requires a google account to access. These two are common for
their similarities in user-interface but differs in some functions. MS PowerPoint has more templates
and functions compared with Google Slides which lacks features.
6. List down and discuss at least five (5) specific uses of photo and video editing tools in your
profession
a. Instructional material
Photo editing tool like Photoshop can be used in creating engaging IMs to be used in
presentations. Basic tools like cropping, background changing, and photo enhancing are important
to create IMs that are engaging to students.
b. Reports
As a teacher I am required to submit reports that may contain topics, ideas or concepts
that needs photo and video editing tools. It is more effective, easy-to-use and accessible for me as a
technical-vocational teacher whose tasks include ICT, Industrial Arts, and other technical aspects in
the department.
c. Events
Photo editing tools are very useful in creating tarpaulins, posters, and invitations for
school events. They are accessible and can be used offline and online. Free versions are also helpful
for us teachers which do not have much resources for pro-versions.
d. Greetings/Speeches
Video recording is helpful for teachers in capturing and recording oneself for simple
messages for events in the department. Especially when there are conflicts in schedules wherein
you cannot attend one event, I can use a video recording app to record my message and simply edit
it using basic video editing tools.
e. Promotions/Advertisements
Photo editing tools can be used to create posters and placards to promote and advertise
the school offerings. I can use Photoshop to create posters of our 5 major strands that we offer here
at Don Jose Integrated High School.
7. List down and briefly discuss at least five (5) most important considerations to avoid
internet users from cybercrimes.
a. Privacy
I strongly recommend not to share your passwords to anyone without exceptions. It is
for your safety and a must for computer users.
c. Unsubscribe
Unsubscribe to websites which you do not have any knowledge with. Do not entertain
unknown websites that may be used to collect data information from you.
d. Record
Keep a record of unusual internet users with unwanted behaviors. These can be used as
evidence for future investigations.
e. Ignore
Sometimes the best way to avoid trouble is to ignore. Ignore things that you do not
need in the internet. Being cautious is important as a computer user. Sometimes cyber criminals are
encouraged by seeing a reaction, thus, ignoring is the best way to avoid them.
8. Today that our technology is significant in accessing vast information online, as a teacher
and a problem solver, what will be your contribution to stopping the growth of
disinformation?
Technology is a trend, but still there is a disadvantage. As a teacher and problem solver,
I should promote or campaign to stop growing the disinformation, by providing webinars, seminars
regarding data privacy act and to capacitate the individual on the use of technologies particularly on
social media. In addition, to integrate some etiquettes on the use of technology in the class.
Specifically, by creating e-campaign on stop disinformation.
