Q1a. Mr. Bangura has been suffering agonizing pain with each breath and has been informed by the
physician that he has pleurisy.

i. Specifically, what membranes are involved in this condition? ( 1mark)


ii. What is their usual role in the body? (2marks)
Q1b.Victims of third – degree burns demonstrate the loss of vital functions performed by the skin. What
are the two most important problems encountered clinically with such patients? (2marks).

Q2. Study the diagram below and answer the questions that follow:

a) Identify the different planes shown in the diagram above (5 )


b) From the answers identified above, state which body plane that:
i. Divides the body or an organ into unequal right and left portions? (1 mark)
ii. Divides the body or an organ into anterior (front) and posterior (back) portions? (1mark)
iii. Divides the body or an organ into superior (upper) and inferior (lower) portions? (1mark)
iv. Divides the body or an organ into equal right and left sides? (1mark)
