Drunk Driving
Proposed Thesis Title: The impact of drunk driving on rising accident statistics has had a
significant impact on criminology students in USST.
Drunk driving is a major cause of traffic fatalities and injuries in the United States and
around the world. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC,
2017) alone, alcohol-impaired driving killed 10,874 people in the United States. This
amounts to almost 30% of all traffic deaths for that year.
The impact of drunk driving on rising accident statistics has had a significant impact on
students studying criminology. For example, a 2018 study by researchers at the University of
California, Riverside found that students who had been exposed to more information about
the dangers of drunk driving reported greater levels of knowledge about the risks associated
with this behavior, as well as greater disapproval of it.
The study also found that students who had been exposed to more information about the
consequences of drunk driving were more likely to believe that stricter laws and penalties
should be imposed on those who drive while intoxicated. This suggests that education about
the dangers of drinking and driving can have a positive effect on attitudes towards drunk
driving and could potentially reduce the number of incidents of drunk driving and associated
traffic fatalities.
In addition, a study conducted at the University of South Florida (2016) found that
students who participated in a campus-wide public education campaign about the dangers of
drunk driving had significantly improved attitudes towards the issue and were more likely to
report that they would consider alternative forms of transportation when going out for the
evening.
Overall, it is clear that education about the dangers of drunk driving can have a positive
effect on attitudes and behaviors related to this issue, which may in turn lead to reduced
accident statistics. As such, criminology students should be encouraged to engage in research
and education on this important issue in order to help make our roads safer for everyone.
This study will examine the impact of drunk driving on rising accident statistics on
criminology students in USST from a qualitative perspective. The research will include an
examination of the students’ perceptions of drinking and driving, the students’ understanding
of the legal consequences of drunk driving, and the students’ attitudes surrounding the
criminal justice system’s response to the problem. In addition, the research will also explore
the students’ beliefs about the effectiveness of preventive measures and the efficacy of
punishment in deterring drunk driving. Furthermore, the study will explore the students’
knowledge of the social, economic, and health consequences of drunk driving, and the extent
to which they are aware of the prevalence of the problem in the USST. Finally, the study will
investigate the students’ attitudes towards drunk driving and their particular behavior with
regards to the issue.
Research Paradigm
The researcher Aimed to determine if drunk driving is caused by accident and had a
significant impact to the Criminology student in USST.
In this study, the researcher focusses on assessment of the respondents engaged on the

Statement of the Problem
This research seeks to investigate the impact of drunk driving on rising accident statistics
among criminology students in USST. By employing qualitative research methods, this study
aims to explore the personal experiences and motivations of criminology students who have
experienced drunk driving, as well as their awareness of the consequences of such behavior.
The findings of this research will be used to inform policies and practices to reduce such
cases of drunk driving among USST criminology students, and to better understand the
impact of drunk driving on rising accident statistics in the USST.
Criminology students must also be aware of the legal implications of drunk driving and
the potential consequences for those convicted of this crime. By understanding the problem
of drunk driving and its impacts, criminology students can help to reduce drunk driving-
related accidents and improve public safety.
Specially it aims to answers the following:
Proposed Methodology
This research will use a qualitative research design. This type of research is used to gain an
in-depth understanding of the participants’ perspectives on the issue of drunk driving and its
effect on rising accident statistics. The methodology for the study would involve semi-
structured interviews with criminology students at USST. The interviews will focus on the
students’ understanding of the issue and its impact on their lives. The researcher will use
open-ended questions to explore the students’ perspectives, experiences, and thoughts on the
issue. The researcher will also use a thematic analysis to analyze the results of the interviews.
Themes that emerge from the data analysis will be used to answer the research questions. The
researcher will also use a literature review to determine existing knowledge and research on
the topic.
The researcher will conduct this study in USST, the Criminology student is the target
respondent because they are the number one who will get awareness and benefited in this
study.
Data Gathering Method
Qualitative research is an effective method to gather data about the impact of drunk
driving on rising accident statistics on criminology students in USST. Qualitative research
methods can involve face-to-face interviews, focus groups, surveys, or observation. Through
interviews, focus groups, and surveys, criminology students can be asked to express their
thoughts, feelings, and experiences related to the impact of drunk driving on rising accident
statistics. Through observation, researchers can note the behaviors and attitudes of the
students when discussing the topic. Qualitative research is useful in exploring the reasons
behind the impact of drunk driving on rising accident statistics on criminology students in
USST, and can help to uncover trends or patterns in the students’ responses.
The researcher asked permission to the selected respondent of USST criminology student
before giving the questionnaire to selected people on USST. Upon the approval of the
respondents, the researched tabulated the data and interpreted to find out the findings that the
researcher is looking for, and to achieve the objective of this study.
Treatment of Data
Data related to drunk driving, accident statistics, and criminology students should be
treated with the utmost respect and integrity. All data should be kept confidential and treated
in accordance with any applicable laws and regulations. When collecting and analyzing data,
researchers should ensure that the data is valid, accurate, and complete. They should also
follow ethical principles such as honesty, integrity, fairness, and respect for privacy.
Additionally, statistical techniques should be used to analyze the data in order to draw
meaningful conclusions from it. Finally, the results of the research should be properly
documented and shared with the public in an appropriate and responsible manner.
