1. What is Statistics and why is it important in the field of Sciences and research?
Statistics are used to describe the variability inherent in data in a quantitative fashion, and to quantify
relationships between variables. Statistical analysis is used in designing scientific studies to increase
consistency, measure uncertainty, and produce robust datasets. Statistic is important in the field of
science and research
because it allows us to draw conclusions from a set of data and is often called the “Science of Data.” It
can also help people in every industry answer their research or business questions, and can help predict
outcomes.
2. There are two types of research statistics; the descriptive statistics and the inferential statistics. Describe
each type by giving particular situations on how they apply.
3. There are two ways by which a hypothesis can be stated; the null hypothesis and the alternative hypothesis.
Given the situation that a researcher would like to find if the use of Learners’ Module (LMs) for individual
learning activity is effective in improving academic performance, how could the null and the alternative
hypotheses be stated?
4. In a research study conducted by a teacher, she tested the relationship between learners’ academic
performance and their profile. The results indicated that parents’ highest educational attainment has a
computed probability value of (p = 0.00015) at 0.05 level of significance. What does this finding mean and
what does it imply?
5. Lea Angelica performed an experiment to test the hypothesis that “there is no relationship between socio-
demographic profile and academic performance of the learners”. By random procedures she selected 25
students in each of the two sections of grade 9. She tested her hypothesis using correlation statistics at 0.05
significance level. After analyzing the data, her finding yielded a provability value of (p = 0.078025) for age.
Is she going to accept or reject the null hypothesis? What does this finding mean, and what does it imply?
1. A teacher promotes the success of every student by facilitating the development, articulation,
implementation, and stewardship of a vision of learning that is shared and supported by all stakeholders.
As a teacher, describe your vision for education and explain how you could effectively use your vision as
a basis for developing a shared vision in a school setting in the new normal.
2. A teacher receives office memoranda several times from the principal due to gross neglect of duty but
still he persistently does it. Can the principal file a complaint against the teacher for gross neglect of
duty? Why or why not? If yes, who is the disciplining authority to whom the complaint shall be
addressed? What sanction could be given to the erring employee after having been found guilty of such
act? And who can impose the sanction?
3. Article XI, Section 1 of the 1987 Philippine Constitution states that, “Public office is a public trust”. Public
officers and employees must at all times be accountable to the people, serve them with utmost integrity,
loyalty and efficiency with patriotism and justice and lead modest lives. As a teacher, how can you model
this to the school and community?
4. Enumerate at least three administrative offenses classified as grave. Discuss each briefly and give
examples of each offense.
1. Give the distinction between supervision and evaluation according to the following dimensions: purpose,
scope, rationale, process and expertise.
2. How is supervision administered in your own school? What is wrong with the current practice of supervision?
How can you better improve it?
3. How does supervision of instructor affect student learning and teacher development?
4. Who needs to be involved in supervising instruction? Why?
1. What is strategic planning? Why is planning important in achieving our desired goals?
2. How can you make a good plan? What are the factors you should consider in making a good plan? And
how do you monitor and evaluate the implementation of a plan?
3. Discern on the statement of Dr. Eduardo A. Morato Jr., that in planning, “the clearer the picture of the
end results desired, the more we can chart our path towards the end”.
4. Does your organization currently possess the capacity, expertise, capabilities to achieve its long range
vision? Why or why not?
