CHAPTER III

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

This chapter presents the research methodology and procedures that will

be used to answer the research problem in this study. This will help the readers

thoroughly understand what will happen through the process of the study. It will

also facilitate easy understanding of the interpretation of the findings that will be

discussed in the next chapter.

Nature of the Study

In this study, the researchers will select the qualitative approach so that it

would give an understanding of underlying reasons, opinions, and motivations

regarding the perception of Zone 52 Sampaloc, Manila Pantawid Pamilyang

Pilipino Program beneficiaries. Specifically, descriptive-narrative study in order to

have a deeper understanding on how these beneficiaries experience the effects

of this particular program in which they may offer their perceptions. This design

aims to gather the information which will be needed by the researchers.

Methods of Research

As stated by Padgett (2012), it is appropriate for the descriptive-narrative

study that is being delve since it focuses on the unique perspectives and deeper

understanding of a certain situation for the researchers to gather data from the

participants. Qualitative research pertains to exploring issues, understanding

narrative study and answering questions by analyzing and making sense of

unstructured interviews and in-depth conversations. Unstructured interview

comprises a few key self-device interview guide questions that help characterize

areas that will be studied yet additionally enables the interviewee to wander so

as to seek after thought or reaction in more subtleties.

Respondents of the Study and Sampling Techniques

The Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program beneficiaries of Zone 52

Sampaloc, Manila will be the participants of the researchers’ study. Non –

probability sampling will be coordinated in this study wherein individuals from the

sample are drawn from the populace dependent on the judgment of the

researchers. Laerd (2013), the aftereffects of a study utilizing this sampling

technique are generally one-sided. There is no arbitrary choice of individuals of

the sample from the population. Randomized or randomization process is not

considered in this strategy of getting a sample.

Specifically, snowball sampling will be utilized in the research to recruit

participants via other participants. The Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program

beneficiaries who fill in as the participants came from Zone 52 Sampaloc, Manila.

The researchers will be interviewing 10 respondents from the said sampling.

Based on Mersdorf (2019), qualitative research discussions are determined by

the respondent's opinions and feelings. Largely, focus groups discussions consist

of 5-10 respondents.
Source of Data

The researchers will plan a self-device interview guide questions as their

specific source of information and data which will be required on the researchers’

study. The interview timetable will be partitioned into two unique segments. The

initial segment is the monthly income of the participants, and the second part is

the view of these participants towards the outcome of Pantawid Pamilyang

Pilipino Program on their health and education statuses. The information that will

be accumulated is exposed to examination and interpretation. The analysis of the

performed interview will be utilized to approve the reactions of the researchers’

participants, which are the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program beneficiaries of

Zone 52 Sampaloc, Manila.

To ensure the legitimacy of the questions of the self-device interview, the

figured inquiries will be introduced to an expert which is a professional in the field

of Project and Programs Development in social work. The recommendations

amid the approval of the planned questions by the expert is actualized on the

made instrument by the researchers.

Data Gathering Procedure

After the approval of the research instrument, the researchers will

compose a letter addressed to the local government unit of Zone 52 Sampaloc,

Manila to request that authorization lead to the research. At the point when the

letter has been endorsed, the information of the research entitled "Assessment of

Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program Implementation to the Beneficiaries of

Zone 52 Sampaloc Manila", will be gathered through direct or talk with strategy.

This technique includes an immediate contact with the interviewees, specifically

the beneficiaries of the said program. The researchers will get the data by

making inquiries and requests from these participants. This strategy will give

steady and increasingly exact information and data since clarification will be

given to them.

The researchers will utilize the unstructured interview since it will consist

of a few key questions that will help to characterize regions of the study that will

be investigated. This will permit the beneficiaries of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino

Program in Zone 52 Sampaloc, Manila to connect completely to seek after a

thought and reaction to the investigation likewise.

Ethical Considerations

The standards of research morals will be guaranteed in leading this

research through entirely observing the following: (i) Confidentiality - Any part of

the research study would not make reference to the names of the participants,

specifically the beneficiaries of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program in Zone 52

Sampaloc, Manila. (ii) Human Subject for Protection - The researchers would not

sincerely or physically harm the participants to accumulate the information that

are requested in this study. (iii) Intellectual Property - Noting references of the

materials that will be used in the study will be legitimately done to appropriately

obey copyright laws. (iv) Legality - A correspondence letter will be presented to

the local government unit of Zone 52 Sampaloc, Manila to offer authorization to

lead the interview required on the study. (v) Openness - Validation of the

research instruments that are required on the study will be oppressed. The

recommendations will be joined in the instrument that will consolidate the

researchers’ study.
