FROM YOUR WORK ON EXERCISES 1.3 AND 1.4 – EVIDENCE OF YOUR
COMMENTS TO YOUR CLASSMATES)
1.3. Based on the information from exercise 3 Module 6 EXPRESSING
SIMILARITIES AND DIFFERENCES, use the following adjectives (noisy-clean-
expensive-dirty-crowed-pollutedlarge-old-quite-modern-interesting) to compare a big
city and a small town. Then which one is better to live. Why? Give explanations and
reasons. You can also use more adjectives if you need.

Solution:

It is better to live in a small town, since big cities are noisier due to the amount of people,
small towns are quieter.

In the cities the prices of the peasant basket are more expensive than in small towns, in the
big cities there are more interesting things to do since it has several shows and services that
offer a difference from the small town.

Large cities are more polluted than small towns due to a predominant number of inhabitants
in each.
1.4. Watch the video from the blog DESTINATIONLESS TRAVEL, in the section 22

guatapecolombia/answer the questions using Present Perfect and Past Simple and post
it in the forum.

Comment on your partners’ answers.

LEARNING TIP: Use the present simple, the Past Simple, the Present Perfect and

comparatives or Superlatives when writing your answers.

QUESTIONS

1. How long have Dan and Bailey been in Guatape?

During a week touring this beautiful place.

2. What places have they visited in their trip? Describe three of them.

- Calle del Recuerdo is known as the most beautiful street in Guatapé and also a replica of
one of the streets of the old town before the area was flooded to create hydroelectric dams.
- San Rafael is a small town located 27 kilometers (16.8 miles) from Guatapé.

- La Casuela Waterfall, Guatapé, anybody who knows Dan and I will know that we love
freshwater swimming holes and waterfalls! There is nothing better than hiking to discover a
little piece of paradise where you can cool down with a swim.

3. Which are the best activities they have recommended to do there? Why?

First in the list of things to do in Guatapé has to be climbing the famous rock. This is the
most popular activity in Guatapé and something that every visitor needs to do.

Second, Pablo Escobar once lived in a mansion right on the lake’s edge very close to Guatapé.
While all “Pablo Escobar tours” no longer officially exist and you cannot actually go inside
the house, you can still go on a boat tour from Guatape that drives past the house.

Finally, if you’re looking for a little excitement, ATVing through the lush jungle that
surrounds Guatapé is probably the activity for you! It will be exciting and fun while also
offering beautiful scenic views.
4. What are the most visited places or tourist attractions in your region?

I have visited several tourist sites in the Andean region, some of them are:

 Salento, Quindío, Salento is the birthplace of Colombia's national tree, La Palma de

Cera del Quindío.
 Prado Tolima, the municipality of Prado is one of the most beautiful in Tolima since
it has landscapes like none and one of its greatest attractions is the Hidroprado Dam,
among other tourist sites.
5. What was the most incredible activity you have done on a trip? What did you
do?

When I traveled to Salento, Quindío, they offered the experience of sleeping in Glamping, it
was a wonderful experience since its roof is transparent, you could admire the stars lighting
up the sky and all its surrounding nature.

6. Have you ever been a backpacker? What is your opinion about this traveling
style?

No, never, it seems to me that it is somewhat dangerous since we never know what kind of
person we will meet on the trip.

7. What is the most unknown food you have tried on a trip?

When I had the opportunity to travel to Bucaramanga on the way, I tried the culonas ants,
typical dish of the city, and curious at the same time.

8. What are the best things that have happened to you on a trip? Mention two.

One of the incredible things that happened to me was meeting a soccer idol when I visited
Salento Quindío, it was something wonderful and the second was when we traveled to Prado
where we were also able to see the inland sea of Colombia as this place is called.
