9.3 HVAC Control System (For Substation Building)

HVAC Control System
i. Control Unit
Complete controls shall have Direct Digital Control (DDC) or Universal Step
Control (USC) that can also be used as standalone unit and interlock devices.
The DDC shall have an alarm history log and capable of storing at least 20
last events. The latest event(s) shall succeed the previous event(s) and shall
have dates & times of occurrences. During normal operation, the DDC shall COMPLY
display the Substation name, month, day, year and time. Numeric display i.e.,
Temperature and hours shall have one decimal point. A maintenance tool set
(lap top computer) shall be provided including the software program copy for
future use.
Interlock controls shall be provided with SCADA (for unmanned facilities)
and FACP to remotely monitor status of the HVAC Systems, modifications of
setpoints and parameters, and to trip the A/C unit and exhaust fan in case of COMPLY
smoke/fire detection, respectively. Likewise, provision shall be made on
control panels not to trip A/C operation on manual checking of fire alarm.
Control unit shall have digital portable operator's terminal mounted on the
panel door and shall also provide two communication interface ports for COMPLY

ii. HVAC Control and Monitor Panel
A remote HVAC control and monitor panel shall be provided to perform the

provided to start the standby unit in case the duty unit trips or fails to start.
For a multi-unit system (system with two or more units), with a standby unit,

4.0 GENERAL DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTS
The indoor panels shall be metal enclosed, free standing, integrally designed
with all necessary controls, instruments, meters, protective and auxiliary
4.1.1 relays, and other appurtenances. They shall be reinforced to provide a rigid COMPLY
self-supporting structure and shall be suitable for floor mounting by means of
anchor bolts.
The panels shall be fabricated from minimum of 2 mm thick steel or an alloy
of Aluminum and Zinc, suitably braced and supported. Suitable stiffeners

panel etc. Door Frames shall be straight without buckling and shall have
smooth opening/closing and latching arrangements.
Bottom of panel shall be covered with three (3) steel plates with 3 mm as
shown in figure 1 below. Suitable knockout slots shall be provided on the

wiring and DC wiring shall be run in separate raceway. Signaling cables
