SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT

MATHEMATICS – MYP3
TIME 80 MINS

Q#1: Find the unknown in the given triangles. Also show your working and reasoning for
each part seperately.

A1.
i. 180-80=80 (sum of triangles=180)
80/2= 40
x and y= 40
ii. b= 40, lines indicate that the angles and side is the same as the given angle.
40+40+a=180 (sum of triangles)
180-80= 100
a= 100
iii. 180-80= 100 (sum of triangles)
We can tell this’s isosceles because of the line indicators so 100/2= 50.
x and y= 50
iv. Because of the line indicators we know that this’s an isosceles. 180-80= 100.
a+b=100
100/2= 50.
a and b= 50
To find the exterior angle we add 80+50 (80+a), exterior angle (x)= 130.
v. We know this’s an isosceles and the base is the bottom side because of the line
indicators. Let’s say that the angles on the bottom line are x.
x+x=88.
88/2= 44.
Sum of triangles= 180, 44+44+b=180
180-88= 92. b= 92. Now we need to find p, 42+92=p
42+92= 134.
p= 134.
vi. The lines indicate that 35 and m are the same angle so m= 35.
35+35=70. 180-70=110.
Then we can give the value of p to a missing angle in the left triangle.
angles on a straight line=180*, 180-110= 70.
60+p+n=180*
130+n=180*
180-130=50
n=50
vii. y= 120, when we create the parallel lines/extend the exterior angles, we can see
that 60 is vertically opposite to another angle and y and that new angle made are
co-interior angles. So y= 120.

Q#2: In the given figures, the directed lines are parallel to each other. Find the unknown
angles. Also show your working and reasoning for each part seperately.
Q2.
xii. x=60 because of angles on a straight line, y= 110 because of alternate angles.
p= 60 because it’s on a straight line with the 120 but it can also be because x and p are
alternating angles. p and q are angles on a straight line so q= 120. (180-60). Then to find z we
solve the quadrilateral, 110+120+60+f= 360 110+120+60=290.
360-290= 70
f= 70
z’s vertically opposite to 70 so z=70
xviii. 180-75= 105. 105/2 (z and x)= 62.5 (angles on a straight line= 180*)
y= 112 because of alternating angles.
ix..b= 65,115 and 120 are on angles on a straight lines so we just minus 115 with 180, 120
with 180 which’s 65 and 60. Then we add them and minus them by 180 which’s 65 so b= 65.
b’s also on an angles on a straight line so 180-65= 115. 115/2 (a and c)= 67.5, a and c=67.5
x.
