Area of Assignment: Team Leader/Supervisor: _____________________

I. Objectives (for the week)

● To understand 2GO apprenticeship
 To know the duties and responsibilities of trainees onboard.
 To familiarize in different department.
 To know the Front Desk duty.
● To check if all the requirements are satisfactorily completed by the student trainees prior
to their deployment.

II. Reflections from the Objective

On February 22, 2023, at CIHTM Department the trainees were assembled by 12:00 noon.
After we finished filling up the evaluation form, we the trainees started to go in the university
bus. At exactly 1pm we departed the department with our adviser Doc. Jennifer Reyes. We
decided to stop at SLEX to buy some stuff that we needed in our OJT. The duration of our
travel starting at the department to North Habor Port, is almost 5 hours. We arrived at North
Habor Port at 6:00 pm but we are not allowed to get off the university bus and wait for our
STO (Shipboard Training Officer) to let us into the port for boarding the MV 2go Maligaya.
After our STO distribute our tickets, we entered the port station. To scan our possessions, we
place our baggage in front scanner, and we waited almost one hour in the port because the
ship arrival is delayed. After almost one hour waiting, we entered the ship, some staff are
helping us to carry our luggage. As we enter the ship, I am truly amazed because MV
Maligaya is beautiful. Ma’am Nneka and Ma’am Kate assigned us in our designated cabins.
After room designation we have our dinner at horizon café. We also unpacked our things and
arranged it; our cabin is very comfortable and relaxing. Ma’am kate requested a meeting in
the multi-purpose room, she started to distribute our uniform and apprenticeship manual. She
also discussed our duties and responsibilities as trainees and divide us into 7 groups. February
23, 2023, is our official day of duty. Our group assigned in Front Office, ma’am nneka
oriented us and discuss to us what are the duties and responsibilities of front desk staff. This
is our first night voyage bound to cebu.

III. Accomplishment/s for the Day

My accomplishment today is I learned the responsibilities of being a front desk staff like how
to handle guest complains , how they handle minor passenger and monitor the room
availability. We introduced ourselves at front office, we also practiced the spiel of front desk
staff like final docking announcement and meal announcements. We also have our bridge and
vessel tour together with ma’am jen and ma’am kate. Ma’am nneka give us the copy of staff
and officers list to familiarized with them. We also do paper works and passenger survey
forms. I also tour myself in the view deck. Overall I learned customer service skills, handle
guest request and clean or organized the front office.

IV. Realization About the Task/s (knowledge/skills/values learned)

Today, I have realized what I really want to be. I can say that I really want to be a
seafarer. I am focused , I am passionate and dedicated to this training. I have realized the
importance of confidence too, because when you are a front desk staff you are the one who
will entertain and handle the guest inquiries. You need to believe in yourself that you can do
it. Just mind over matter.

V. Most Memorable Practicum Moments

My most memorable practicum moments during the day 1 and Day 2 is that I am amazed
to the kind staff and what is inside the vessel. I amazed how big it is. Because since then I
always dreamed working on a cruise and it is my first time to enter a ship. It is a dream come
true for me quite nervous but I think its normal for a first timer. I will surely enjoy my
training here in MV Maligaya.

VI. Difficulties Encountered and Solutions Made

The Difficulties I run into during our departure are that we are surprised by how high
we’ll go up and that our luggage is so heavy that we require help moving it inside the ship.
Second is the internet connection is poor I can’t even call or update my mom . I overcome it
by accepting that being a seafarer has no stable signal and keep in my mind that I am here to
learn and prepare myself to be a seafarer.
