None ma’am
B. Reviewing previous lesson or Who among you enjoys
presenting the new lesson stargazing at night?
(Students raising
hands)

What do you see in the sky at

night, class? Ma’am!
Stars!!
Now I want you to pay attention
and take notes while watching
this video because I'll be asking
you questions later.

(showing video) Yes ma’am

Class, now tell me about what

you saw and heard in the video? (student raising
their hands)
Yes Nico
Nico: it’s all
All right, that’s correct! about stars

What is a star?
Stars are fascinating celestial
objects that have captured the
human imagination for centuries.
They are massive balls of
glowing gas that emit light and
heat through nuclear fusion,
which occurs in their cores.

So class why do stars twinkling?

The reason why stars twinkle in

the sky at night is due to an
atmospheric effect. Stars appear
to twinkle as a result of light
refraction by the Earth's
atmosphere.

Can you read the presenting slide

Tina

(presenting slides)
Tina: Stars come
in a wide range of
sizes,
temperatures, and
colors. The color
of a star is
determined by its
surface
temperature, with
hotter stars
appearing blue or
white and cooler
stars appearing
red. The
temperature of a
star also affects
its brightness,
with hotter stars
generally being
brighter than
cooler ones.

As you can see class the stars has

different sizes and colors.
Each colors of a star is
determined by its surface
temperature, with hotter stars
appearing blue or white and
cooler stars appearing red. A
star's brightness is also affected
by its temperature, with hotter
stars generally being brighter
than cooler ones.

Everyone please read the second

slide! (students read)

A star is a huge

inside its core,
hydrogen atoms
smash together,
forming helium
and releasing
huge amounts of
energy that heats
the gas. This is
called nuclear

why a star shines.

energy in the process. This is
known as nuclear fusion, and it is
the source of energy in stars.

Did you know that the Sun is a

star? There are many stars in the
universe, but the Sun is the
closest to Earth and the only one
in our solar system. It is located
at the center of our solar system.

Class, what do you call a

gravitationally bound system of (students raising
billions of stars, nebulae, stellar their hands)
remnants, interstellar gas, dust,
and dark matter?
Galaxy!

And what the name of our galaxy

in our solar system Mary? Mary: Milky
Way
Stars also play a crucial role in
the formation of galaxies. They
cluster together in vast numbers,
forming systems known as
galaxies. Our own Milky Way
galaxy contains hundreds of
billions of stars, and there are
billions of other galaxies in the
observable universe.

Now that you've learned a lot

about stars, let's move on to our
next lesson, which is about a
group of stars that appears to
form a pattern or picture.
C. Establishing a purpose for Class when you look at the night
the lesson sky, what do you see? Do you
see images or pattern of animals,
objects, or people?

(yes ma’am)
Those imaginary group of stars
are called constellation

What is a constellation class?

Yes mark? Ma’am!

A constellation is
a grouping or
Excellent! pattern of stars in
These star patterns frequently the night sky
form recognizable shapes or
figures, which are then named
after mythological characters,
animals, objects, or cultural
symbols.

Many constellations have names

that can be traced back early
Babylonians and Greek
civilization, but nearly all
cultures have different names for
the constellation. For example,
Greeks called the large
constellation Orion, which mean
hunter and is prominent in the
night sky all over the world
during winter. Early Filipinos
visualized the same group of
stars as Balik, a trap used in
hunting wild pigs. Christian
Filipinos named the three stars
(Orion’s belt) Tatlong Maria or
Tres Marias.

Next slide will be how

constellation form?
Please read everyone

(students read the

presenting slide)
Constellations are
formed of bright
stars which
appear close to
each other on the
sky, but are really
far apart in the
space. The shapes
you see all
depend on your
point of view.

Thank you!

Stars are scattered throughout the

universe at different distances
from Earth. When we observe
the night sky, we see these stars
as tiny points of light. Since
Earth is constantly moving in its
orbit around the Sun, our
perspective of the stars changes
throughout the year. This means
that the positions of stars in the
night sky appear to shift over
time.

Now, class do you have an idea

what is our new topic?
Yes ma’am!
What it is class?

Ma’am its all

about
constellation
Very good!

D. Presenting examples/ I will show some examples of a

instances of the new lesson constellation

These are the pattern or images

that can be seen in the sky every
night.

What do you see on this image or

patter class?

Very good!

Gemini was given this name Ma’am it’s

because it means "the twins" in Gemini!
Latin. It depicts the twins Castor
and Pollux, two Greek heroes
who were among the men led by
Jason on his Argo voyages.
Next image.

This is Taurus

Taurus, which represents a bull,

is one of the most beautiful and
interesting constellations in the
sky. In Greek mythology, Zeus
transformed himself into a bull to
carry Princess Europa to the
island of Crete. Aldebaran, the
brightest star in the constellation,
represents the gleaming eye of
the bull.

This is Aries looks like

Aries's symbol is the Ram and is
associated with initiation,
courage, boldness, spontaneity
and inspiration. The animal is
used to illustrate a battering ram
(with 'Aries' actually being the
Latin word for 'ram') which
breaks down an opponent's
defenses with persistence and
strength. The symbol for the
constellation is ♈ and it
represents a ram's horns.

Next would be the Pisces.

This constellation represents the
mythical fish that appeared in the
story of Aphrodite and her son
Eros. They were saved from the
monster Typhon by two fishes.
Its name comes from Latin, and
it literally translates to "fish."

Is everyone knows this

constellation?
Ma’am that’s
Aquarius
Yes exactly!
The constellation describes a
large group of stars that ancient
Greek astronomers saw as a
picture in the night sky. Aquarius
was said to represent a "cup
bearer" or "water bearer," which
is what its name means in Latin

What constellation is this class?

(student raising
Yes carl? their hands)

Absolutely! Ma’am!
And what does it represent?
Ma’am its Libra

The constellation
was long

Correct! with harmony,
balance, and even
justice.

this is?

(everyone

Alrigth! Leo!
Leo is one of the zodiac
constellations and one of the
largest constellations in the sky.
Leo represents the lion and is
usually associated with the
Nemean lion in Greek
mythology. Its symbol is ♌.
This pattern is a cancer.
The constellation of Cancer
represents the giant crab that
attacked Hercules during the
second of the 12 labors he
performed as penance for killing
his family. It was sent by the
jealous goddess Hera to thwart
Hercules as he battled the water
serpent Hydra, but he killed it
with his club

Virgo is the second-largest

constellation. In Greek
mythology, it represents both the
goddess of justice and the
goddess of the harvest. The main
stars of Virgo form a lazy Y
shape. The constellation's
brightest star, Spica, is at the
base of the Y.

Scorpius is a beautiful and easily

recognizable constellation. It
represents a scorpion sent by the
goddess Artemis to kill the
hunter Orion in a story from
Greek mythology. At the
scorpion's heart lies Antares,
a giant star that is hundreds of
times larger than the sun.
What do you see in this images?

Alrigth!

Capricornus is a faint zodiac

constellation located in the
southern sky. Its name means
“the goat” in Latin. The
constellation represents a sea
goat, a mythical creature
associated with the god Enki in
Babylonian mythology and later
with the Greek deity Pan.

And lastly in our zodiac sign of

course the Sagittarius

E. Discussing new concepts and Ever since humans walked the
practicing new skills# 1 Earth, great significance has
been given to the celestial
objects in the sky. Throughout
history, names and mythical
stories have been attributed to
the star patterns, giving birth to
what is now known as
constellations.

For the Greeks, stars were a way

of preserving folklore and
mythology. The images depicted
in their constellations are of
heroes and beasts who received a
place among the stars as tribute
for their deeds on Earth.

First is the Orion

The Orion constellation is
named after Orion the hunter in
Greek mythology. Located on
the celestial equator and made up
of bright young blue giants or
supergiants, it is one of the most
prominent and recognizable
constellations in the sky and can
be seen throughout the world.

As I’ve said earlier what’s

formed or what the hunters belt The Constellation
represent? Orion, which
mean hunter and
is prominent in
the night sky all
over the world
during winter.
Early Filipinos
visualized the
same group of
stars as Balik, a
trap used in
hunting wild pigs.
Christian

That’s correct

Next is the Ursa major

Ursa Major, this constellation is
visible all year round. When
you’ve found the North Star at
the end of the bear’s tail, it’s then
easy to identify the rest of the
constellation.

Next would be the Cassiopeia.

Have you heard who Cassiopeia
is?
Yes ma’am
She was Queen of
Aethiopia and
wife of King
Cepheus. She was
arrogant and vain,
That’s right! characteristics
that led to her
downfall.

A Cassiopeia constellation is the

constellation it most notable
because of its W shape, which is
said to represent the Queen
sitting on her throne. She was
placed in the stars as a
punishment for believing that her
daughter Andromeda was more
beautiful than the sea nymphs.

Next is the Andromeda which is

the daughter of Cassiopeia. The
constellation Andromeda
is named for the daughter of
Queen Cassiopeia and King
Cepheus of Greek mythology.
Andromeda has the nickname of
the Chained Lady because her
parents chained her up and
offered her as a sacrifice to
appease the sea monster Cetus.

F. Discussing new concepts and These are some of the stories

practicing new skill # 2 behind the constellations Orion,
Ursa Major, Cassiopeia, and
Andromeda, but there are several
many more.

what we are discussing.

Class, where did they get their

name?
Lisa: I think
ma’am its from
Yes most of the constellations greek?
that we recognize today were
made up by the Greeks about
6000 years ago. And also The
Greek word for constellations
was katasterismoi which means
"placings of the stars"- placed by
the gods. The Greeks believed
the Olympians put those people,
animals and objects in the
heavens for a reason: to serve as
unmistakable lessons on proper
behavior.

Now, class let’s move on to the

next slides which is “How
astronomers use constellations to
locate and study object in the
night sky.”

Do you have an idea how

astronomers use constellation
locate? Or what are we going to
use to see that all constellation?
Ma’am using
telescope
Exactly!

Can you read the next slide Miss

Rea
Yes ma’am
Astronomy is the
scientific study of
everything in
outer space.
Astronomers and
other scientists
study stars and
galaxies, most of
which are
many light-years
away from Earth.
Studying the
scientific
properties of
these objects in
space helps us to
understand how
the universe was
made, what else is
out there, and
how we fit in.
Thank you miss Rea.

Astronomers use a coordinate

system to pinpoint the location of
celestial objects in the sky. The
coordinate system is based on the
celestial sphere, an imaginary
sphere surrounding Earth.
Constellations act as reference
points within this system.
Astronomers use star charts and
catalogs that plot the positions of
stars within constellations. These
resources provide detailed
information about the brightness,
spectral type, and other
characteristics of stars. By
referring to these charts and
catalogs, astronomers can locate
specific stars within a
constellation. Constellations
have been used for navigation
purposes since ancient times.
Even today, astronomers use
constellations as a guide to locate
specific objects in the night sky.
By identifying key stars within a
constellation, astronomers can
navigate through the sky and
point their telescopes or
instruments toward specific
targets.

let's have a trivia there are 88

constellation recognized by IAU
or international astronomy union
amazing right are you familiar
with this image do you know
your zodiac sign zodiacs are 12
constellations amazing right to
sum it up class some
constellations appear and
disappear in the night sky
throughout the year due to the
revolution of the earth
furthermore if you observe the
stars in consolation for at least
one to two hours you will notice
that the constellation appears to
move across night sky from east
to west this daily change in
position is due to the rotation of
earth on its axis from west to east
now let us have some examples
of Constellations what form do
you see do you see a scorpion
this is scorpius vas scorpion Next
what form do you see do you see
a woman this is virgo the maiden
next what form do you see do
you see a horse this is pegasus
the winged horse

G. Developing mastery (leads to Class create concept maps or

formative assessment) diagrams that illustrate the
relationships between different
constellations, their mythological
stories, and their modern uses Yes ma’am!
