This document provides instructions for powering on and checking a ACUSON Sequoia
ultrasound system at a customer site.
ACUSON Sequoia system power on and check includes:
• Uncrating the system and peripheral devices
• Inventorying the shipment
• Powering on the system
• Checking the system configuration
• Connecting transducers
Time Required 0
Approximately 1 hour
Ensure there is sufficient space to allow removing the system from the crate.
Required Materials 0

3. Remove all accessories and transducers from crate.
4. Do NOT remove the straps holding the peripherals to the system.

Final steps 0
Fig. 4:
• Check peripherals shipped, and make sure they match the packing list. Notify Siemens
immediately if any discrepancy is found.
• Check that the peripherals are safely secured to the system.
1. Plug the system power cord into a power outlet specified by the customer.
2. Press the power button on the left under the monitor to power on the system.
The system takes approximately two minutes to boot. If the system is not completely
booted after five minutes call Siemens.
1. Check that the screen appears as shown in Figure 1 or Figure 2, depending on system
type (i.e. C256 or GI512)

Some transducers are keyed; they can be inserted only into the right or
left transducer ports. Do not try to force a transducer into a port.
2. Verify that the transducer initializes. See Figure 4 for examples of 2-D imaging screens
for each transducer type.
The screen displays the active transducer in the upper right corner below
the date and time.

7. Press 2D Only to return to 2-D mode.
8. If the system includes the Auxiliary CW Transducer Package (see the packing list/sales
order), press Aux to check that the system displays the CW Doppler strip, as shown be-
low.
Insert each transducer into a transducer port, and verify that it initializes in 2-D imaging.
See Figure 4 for examples of properly initialized 2-D images for each transducer type.
To verify printer: 0
NOTE If a color printer is installed the print will have color in it. Otherwise
a black and white image will be printed.
Customer Acceptance 0
• Ensure that all transducer and peripheral serial numbers match the packing list.
• Obtain the customer’s signature as proof of acceptance.
If the system needs to be sent back to the factory see the instructions on the container
sleeve.
