Lesson Plan

A-Description of the class

• Level: Intermediate (10th grade)

• Students between the ages of 16 and 17 years

• The class takes place from 11:10-12:00 a.m. on Monday. The students are generally
enthusiastic.

Listening

 Ss will be able to understand the information which they listen to.

 Ss will be able to understand the information presented in a written form


 Ss will be able to solve the exercises connected with the reading paragraphs

 Ss will be able to express opinions on the topic of thealth

 Activity 1

Aim: to create interest in the topic of the lesson

Interaction: T-whole class, Ss-T, Ss-Ss.

Procedure: T shows the Ss the picture from the p 138 of the textbook. T asks the Ss to discuss
the pictures and the title of the Unit; Ss describe the pictures and express an opinion. Ss will be
asked to choose which types of programs they watch on TV. T elicits answers and opens up
discussion.

Possible problems: Students may not have much to say. The teacher will be prepared to prompt
if necessary or shorten the activity if that seems appropriate
Timing: 3 minutes

 Activity 2

Aim: to introduce new vocabulary

Interaction: T-whole class, Ss-Ss, Ss-T

Procedure: T asks Ss to work in groups. T proposes a brainstorm for vocabulary related to


health. Ss may use as prompts the highlighted words from the text as a starting points. Ss work in
groups and share with the class.

Possible problems: The task can be time consuming. T will set a timer and manage the activity
accordingly.

Timing: 2 minutes

 Activity 3

Aims: to practise listening for meaning; to practise logical connection

Interaction: T-whole class, T-Ss, Ss-T.

Procedure: T will ask Ss to listen to the audio presentation of the text on page 139 from the
textbook. The class will discuss the unknown words and will write them down in their
notebooks. The T will then ask the Ss to choose the correct answer for the questions following
the text.

Possible problems: The task can be time consuming. T will set a timer and manage the activity
accordingly.

Timing: 15 minutes

 Activity 4

Aims: to pin down new vocabulary

Interaction: T-Ss, Ss-Ss, Ss-T


Procedure: T will ask the Ss to solve ex 1 on page 140 by providing a suitable explanation for
the words given.

Possible problems: Students may not be able to complete the exercise due to some unknown
words. T will provide Ss with the explanation of those words.

Timing: 3 minutes

 Activity 5

Aims: to pin down new information.

Interaction: T-whole class, Ss-Ss, Ss-T.

Procedure: T asks Ss to solve ex 2 on page 140 by choosing the correct word from the options
provided.

Possible problems: the Ss may be unfamiliar with some words. The T will explain the unknown
words to the Ss. The task can be time consuming. T will set a timer and manage the activity
accordingly.

Timing: 3 minutes

 Activity 6

Aims: to practise new vocabulary.

Interaction: T-whole class, Ss-Ss, Ss-T.

Procedure : T asks Ss to solve exercise 3 on page 140 by filling the open spaces with the correct
words.

Possible problems: Ss may not know the meaning of some words. T will present the Ss the
meaning of those nouns. The task can be time consuming. T will set a timer and manage the
activity accordingly

Aims: to practise new vocabulary.

Procedure : T asks Ss to solve exercise 4 on page 140 by dividind the treatments provided into
conventional/ unconventional ones.

Aims: to practise new vocabulary.

what they might say.

Aim: to get feedback and set transfer

homework ( Ss will be asked to solve the grammar check on page 141)
