 Definition of Computers and evolution of Technology
(Group 1)

In our today life, we start our days using cellphone or gadgets

looking at the time and constantly checking for updates or
announcements and ending our days with it on our sides or placing it
possibly near our beds. It basically shows that it is already part of our
life. Specially remembering the last two years, when pandemic hit us,
technology has been our only way to communicate, connect to other
people, friends and family and of course also has been the only way to
continue the education of the young ones.
Computers is a electronic device that manipulates information
and store, retrieve and process data. Also, used by sending email, type
documents and doing things that is useful for an individual especially
those who works in offices, students and etc. But originally
calculations were done by humans whose job title were computers
that were typically engaged in the calculations of mathematical
expression and so it computers has it’s history, it didn’t just appear
like how we can use it today. It started from Tally Stick, Abacus,
Napier’s bones, Slide Rule and etc. that was primarily used as device
and machines to perform mathematical calculations. Mechanical
computers also were invented which is used to tabulate polynomial
functions, tabulating machine, electro-mechanical computer and
programmable computers. Then, the first commercially used
successful portable computer (Osborne 1) that was released on 1981
by Adam Osborne. However, things are more easier now. Easier to
carry, use and offers a lot of things to do. We already have laptops
that are battery-powered computers, smart-phones, tablets, wearable
and games console. TVs or televisions now also can access the
internet, you can stream video and also do things that normally
computers do offer. To do or function all of this stuff in computers and
other gadgets, there is what we call operating system that manages all
the software and hardware on the compute. Without this operating
system,a computer or device are useless.
Today the world revolves around different kinds of technology
that are used for so many things, some are necessary and some are
not. Technology devices now are not only acquire because we want it
but because it is now practically part of our basic necessity in this
advance technology world we are living. The most important thing is
that to use it in a good manner, to what is moral and just, not by
using it to destroy, hurt someone’s feelings and to make other users
believe on what is not true. Also, it is also important to not always
rely on this devices especially your personal information because it is
not a safe place, others can easily have access to it so you must be
careful. Then, for kids I am really hoping that kids spend more of
their time playing and interacting physically not through online. It is
way more healthy than to spend their whole day at their room
playing video games and scrolling through their social media.
 Computers in our Daily Life
(Group 2)

Technology devices (Computers) play a very important role in

our life. It can be use for communication, access to information,
learning, leisure or entertainment, doing tasks for work, etc. It saves
time, effort and money compared with how costly letters were before.
Well, clearly, their absence can spell trouble for a lot of us. All our
daily life activities are based on online services and products which
can only be possible via computers. Computers have penetrated every
sphere of life, all industries and every possible field.The variety of
stuffs that we can do on our technological devices at the present time
shows us how much more technology can bring or can be in the
future. Industrial robots, artificial intelligence and machine learning
are advancing at a rapid pace and we are expecting that it would
allowed us to live more comfortable and healthier. It uses grew rapidly
and widely throughout the world that help or used to deal with many
tasks, to resolve problems we encounter and have more influence in
our life.
Computers are not directly made like how users can use it
today, it also have its history of generations. The first generation
(1946-1958) where it utilized vacuum tubes for circuitry and magnetic
drums for memory then it is enormous and very expensive. The
second generation (1959-1964) made use of transistors that replaced
the use of vacuum tubes which is 1 transistor is equivalent of 40
vacuum tubes so it is smaller and cheaper than in the first
generation. The third generation (1965-1970) which is the
development of the integrated circuits that allowed a device run many
applications at one time and computers became accessible to a mass
audience than in the second generation. Then, the fourth
generation(1971-Today) is the use of microprocessor that thousands
of integrated circuits were built onto one single silicon chip and also
saw the development of GUI’s the mouse and handled devices. Lastly,
the fifth generation (Today To Future) that was based on Artificial
Intelligence wherein still in development that we are all expecting in
the near future. The goal is to develop devices that respond to natural
language input and are capable of learning and self-organization.
As we look forward to what may be the next kind of computer
can do, we must learn to used those in the present in a good way and
know the limits when to use and not use it. Be a responsible user and
make use of it without draining yourself facing your desktop all day
because as what they say “Computer is not only a device anymore. It
is an extension of your mind and your gateway to other people.”
 The Basic Components of Computer
(Group 3)

A tree cannot stand on the ground without its roots so in the

other hand a computer won’t function without its elements and parts.
A small damage in any part of a desktop or computer components,
affects the whole device physically on what it looks and how it
functions. A computer is also like a human body, it has parts and
systems. Parts that are essential for the computer to function, like a
human body that can’t think and function without its brain, can’t see
without its eyes and hear without its ears.
Computer is comprises of many different parts and components.
First, is the Input Unit which is any data or function or instructions
entered into memory of a computer. Keyboard, mouse (ball
mouse/optical mouse), scanner, joystick and digital camera are types
of input devices. Next, is the Output Unit which is a piece of
equipment/hardware which gives out the result of the entered input,
once it processed.There are two types of output device; soft copy
output devices and hard copy output devices. Soft copy output
examples are monitor, speaker and projector while hard copy output
examples are printer and plotter. Then, the Memory and Storage
Device that are important in storing data and information. It has a
Control Processing Unit (CPU) which is the brain of the computer
which performs data processing information. It controls the working of
the entire system. The Control system acts as Central Nervous System
that are for the other components that manages and coordinates the
entire computer system.
Computers are powerful as to speed, reliability and consistency,
accuracy and communication. Computers need a little amount of time
than humans in completing a tasks. It rarely commit errors and do all
types of tasks precisely. Its system are well-adjusted to repetitive
tasks, they never get tired, bored and fatigued. Computers are simple
as well as complex and is used in different fields and any area of
application. Meanwhile, it also has its limitations. Computer lacks of
common sense, they have zero IQ, lack of decision-making unlike
humans even though we are not normally gifted with brains or
intelligence, human beings can decide, think and learn things that
computers can’t do.We know what is right from wrong, so users are
more responsible on the activities we are doing in our computer or
desktop.
No matter how advanced computers get, they are still unable to
show or even process human emotion. It can’t come up with their own
creative ideas and hold a deeper conversation with human. Although
at the very moment, what computers lacks at the levels of humans, it
is certainly a reality or possible in the distant future, the chances are
very high.
 Media: Attitudes & Behaviors, Data & Information
(Group 4)

Social media and websites has become integral part of the lives
of the people of all ages today. It improve and given us better options
and ways of staying connected to those we love wherever they are in
the world and we can disseminate news and information quicker
through social media. It is also helpful in a way that it gives easier
access to some instances, like searching for a job, businesses and
education. When we feel lonely and bored, we can find someone to
talk and make friends online and do a lot of stuff like sharing our
ideas and happenings through a blog or social media app.
World Wide Web (WWW) consists of information organized into
web pages containing text and graphic images that allows documents
to be connected to other documents. When we have something to do
or search in or PC’s or desktop, the link that we type would always
start with WWW and ends with .com. Websites can also classified into
what type of uses it can provide; The Portfolio Website that are sites
devoted to show examples of past work, Media website that collect
new stories or other reporting, Brochure website that are simplified
form of business website and Nonprofit Website that is the easiest for
many potential donors to make donations. Also, Educational Website
that is for educational institutions and those who offer online courses,
Infopreneur Website that overlap a bit with business and e-commerce
websites and lastly the Personal Website that is where we share our
thought, skills and happenings out in the whole world. Then we also
have this what we call Web Portal that collect information in different
format into one place and are often designed for internal purposes for
businesses, organization and institution.
Interaction with people and devices that continues to change
over time and now that continue to innovate by a high-tech global
economy. Media that is the means of communication that uses tools
to interconnect by people, we create messages and it can be form by
medium which refer to the tools used in sending messages.
Media and websites are beneficial in almost all aspects of
human activity, in our education, economy, organizations and more.
However, it has brought down and destroyed every iota of physical
human interaction at a very alarming rate and change how we view
human relationships at the present time. So, with that, one must
always be careful while connecting with people using this sites and as
much as possible it is better to do things physically to avoid
misunderstanding and fraud.
 Evolution of Media
(Group 5)

Media implies platforms on or using which people socialize and

has influence society in so many ways. It helps the masses to get
information about a lot of things and also to form opinions and make
judgments regarding various issues, keeps the people informed and
updated on what is happening around the world, shaping public
awareness and providing information that shapes attitudes and public
opinion.  It has great positive and negative impacts of society.  In any
way we can never deny the role, power, importance, advantages &
disadvantages of media in every walk of our life.
Individuals now are wiser in choosing what is more beneficial to
them. New media, as we’ll get into a little later, tends to be much more
affordable than traditional or old media. Traditional media is the use
of radio, television, newspaper and magazine is more traditional, more
expensive and harder to access while new media is interactive,
cheaper, faster and is user generated with the uses of intelligent
system and automation. The evolution of media, from the earliest up
to today, has transformed the way we understand the world around
us. In Pre-industrial Age, information can be seen trough cave
paintings, papyrus and clay tables. Next, is in Industrial Age,where
information and news are now printed or shared in newspapers,
telephone and printing press that is for mass production. Then in
Electronic Age, where people harnessed the power of transistors that
led to the transistor radio, electronic circuits, and the early computers
and example are such televisions, transistor radio and computers. In
this time is the Information Age where internet paved the way for
faster communication and creation of the social network. It is where
we can post our thoughts and information through blogs and personal
website that marked by a very fast growth in communication and
information technology.
New media has, and continues to, not just to socialize and send
information but also change the way in which most small businesses
operate. Unlike the one-way communication paths displayed by “old
media” formats such as television, radio and paper-based
publications, new media technology is both digital and interactive.
From connecting with customers to making it easier to compete with
larger businesses, the advantages that the internet, electronic
communications and social media provide most small businesses are
as numerous as its uses. People also are now dependent or always
rely on the new media, when you are popular or your business are
widely known or became trending on new media platforms then worry
lesser because it’s a guarantee that people loved you or your business.
