“No matter how you slice it, you don’t want to miss Pi (π)”
Topic - Concept of Pi (π) - A Constant Value

Pi (often represented by the lower-case Greek letter π), one of the most well-known mathematical constants. The value of pi is approximately
3.14, or 22/7. To 39 decimal places, pi is 3.141592653589793238462643383279502884197. Pi is an irrational number, which means it is not
equal to the ratio of any two whole numbers. Its digits do not repeat. Many mathematicians from famous ones such as Fibonacci, Newton
and Gauss, to lesser well-known mathematical minds – have toiled over pi, calculated its digits, and applied it in numerous areas of
mathematics.

NOTE : Pi Day celebration on – 14 March

Learning Objective :
1) Students learn to measure the circumference and diameter of circular objects.
2) Students understand constant pi (π) and identify it as or 3.14
Materials required :
Cylindrical vessel/jar, thread, ruler, coloured papers, scissors
Activity:
Q.1) Calculate value of Pi(π). (to be done by all students)

Note down measurements on sheet. To find π, (C ÷ d = π).

Q.2) Do any 1 activity out of the 4 activities given below according to your Class Roll number.

a) Roll No. (1-10) : Assemble Pi((π) Day Paper Chain:
