The main steps outlined on pages 2-3 include crocheting the body parts, stuffing them, adding wire for poseability, and sewing everything together.

Charizard Pattern

Materials:
– Lead or Orange yarn;
– Cream Yarn;
– Red or Teal yarn;
– White Yarn;

Notes:
– I always do my crochet works using continuous rounds;
– Everytime I will do a crochet work, the first thing I do is take a look in the entirely pattern before start
doing it, so, I can have an idea of how the pattern works. Well, I recommend you to do the same;
– For sewing the pieces together you will use the tapestry needle;
– To make the eyes you will use the felt and the fabric paint;
– To make the Fire in his tail you will use yarn and a hair-brush;

– Head (lead or orange yarn):
Well, when I was making this pattern and until today, I was very indecisive about his snout size.
However, I figure out that the two sizes I was thinking about are good, it is just a matter of style.
So, I will post the two versions here and let you decide which one you like. One is shorter than the
other. In the photos I used the shorter snout, but I also like the other one.
The difference between them is one row. In the longer one, you are going to crochet one more row of
single crochet before starting the Round: sc 9, inc, sc 8 (19).
The video tutorial teaches how to do the longer version, but it also works to the shorter version. Just
remember to reduce one round of single crochet.
Option 1: Head with shorter snout:
Round 1: ch 6, sc 4, 3sc in next ch, sc 3, inc (12)
Round 2: 2 sc, sc 3, 2 sc in next 3 sc, sc 3, 2 sc in next 2 sc (18)

– Snout (lead or orange yarn):
The first step of the snout will vary depending on the option of head you choose. If you choose option
1 (head with shorther snout), you will make the option 1 of snout, which has 27 ch. If you choose
option 2 (head with longer snout), you will make the option 2 of snout, which has 31 ch.
I’ve made a video to teach you how to do the snout. In this video I’m explaning how to do OPITION 2 of
snout:
Option 1 of snout (head with shorther snout):
First step:
Row 1: ch 27 (27)
Row 2: turn, sc 26 from the second chain from hook (26)
Row 3-4: ch1, turn, sc in each sc (26)
Finish off.
Second step:
Now, lets work in the center and in rows.
Row 1: Ch 1 in the 10th sc and then hdc in the same sc, 5 hdc, skip the next st, 2
sl st (sl st always along the side of the snout).

ch1 in the 10th sc and then hdc in the same stitch

Row 2-5: turn, skip the 2 sl st, 6 hdc, skip one stitch and sl st in next 2 stitches.
Finish off.
Option 2 of snout (head with longer snout):
First step:
Row 1: ch 31 (31)
Row 2: turn, sc 30 from the second chain from hook (30)
Row 3-4: ch1, turn, sc in each sc (30)
Finish off.
Second step:
Now, lets work in the center and in rows.
Row 1: Ch 1 in the 12th sc and then hdc in the same sc, 5 hdc, skip the next stitch, 2
sl st (sl st always along the side of the snout).

ch1 in the 12th sc and then hdc in the same stitch

Row 2-5: turn, skip the 2 sl st, 6 hdc, skip one stitch and sl st in next 2 stitches.
Finish off.
– Horns (lead or orange yarn):

Round 2-4: sc in each sc (6)
Round 5: sc 2, inc (8)
Round 6-7: sc in each sc (8)
Round 8: 2 sc 3, inc, sc 4 (9)
Round 9-10: sc in each sc (9)
Finish off and leave a long tail for sewing.
– Eyebrows (lead or orange yarn):
Round 1: 3 sc in magic ring (3)
Round 2-9: sc in each sc (3)
Finish off and leave a long tail for sewing.
– Nostrils (lead or orange yarn):
Row 1: ch 3, turn, sc 2 from the second chain from hook (2)
Finish off and leave a long tail for sewing.
Assembly:
1. The first step is sewing the head to the body. Although, first we have to cut some wire to insert in
Charizard’s body, which will give his neck some support:
I. Cut some wire in the size of twice his full body (if the head was already sewn to his body);

Wire
II. Then, bend the wire, which should be at the same size of his full body (if the head was already sewn
to his body);
III. Bend the tips of the wire and wrap them with adhesive tape:
Bend the tips of the wire

Wrap with adhesive tape

IV. Now, insert it inside his body already stuffed with fiberfill;
V. Finally, stick the end of the wire in his head end sew it to his body.
(The step below has a photo tutorial that it is similar and will help you in this first step too)

2. In the second step we are going to sew the tail to the body. First, stuff the tail and then you are
going to put some wire in his tail, which will make it poseable:
I. Cut some wire and bend it in the same size as his tail:

II. Bend the tips:

III. Wrap the tips with adhesive tape:

IV. Put the wire in his tail:

V. Sew the tail to his body.

3. In the third step it is time to sew his arms to the body. First, stuff the arms and then cut some wire
and insert it in his arms, following the same steps above. After that, sew those arms;
4. In the fourth step you are going to sew his wings:
I. First, sew the two parts of the wings together with a double wire between them. This wire must be
taller then the wing, because it will works as a support for the wing’s horn:

Sew the two parts of the wings together with a double wire between them

Sew the two parts of the wings together with a duble wire between them
II. After that, cut some wire in the shape bellow, which is the wing’s shape, but cut it in twice the right
size, because afterward you will bend it to make a double wire. Moreover, it is necessary to leave a
long double wire coming out of the extremity which will be sewn to the body (take a look in the photos
bellow). This long double wire it will works as a support for the wing and it needs to be long, because
it is going to penetrate his body and reach his legs (Soon, I will explain this better):

In this photo the wire is not bended. Please, remember to bend to make it double. This is necessary to give more support
to the wings.
Here it is the long double wire. It needs to be long enought to penetrate Charizard’s body and reach his legs.
III. Now position the double wire between the two sides of the wings and sew them together with the
double wire between them:

In this photo the wire is not bended. Please, remember to bend to make it double. This is necessary to give more support
to the wings.
IV. When you finish sewing, it should looks like this:

Wings sewn
V. Now, use the contact glue to glue the red and lead parts together.
IV. After that, it is time to put the two wings in the body. First, stick the long double wire near his neck
in the middle of his back until it reaches his legs in the same way as the photos bellow. This is
necessary to give support to his wings.

Stick the long double wire near his neck in the middle of his back
V. Then, sew the wings to his body.

Wings sewn

5. Sew the underbelly to the body and tail;

6. Sew the legs to the body;
7. Sew the feet to the legs;
8. Sew the fingers and toes;
9. Sew the snout to the head in the same places as shown in the photos bellow:

Last round of his snout

Almost in the middle of his head imagen 2
10. Now, sew the inner part of the snout to his head, which will guarantee that nobody will be able to
pull up the snout:

11. Sew the horns to the head;

12. In the 12th step you will sew the eyebrows and nostrils to the head
I. First, draw in a paper two molds of his eyes;
II. Position the eyes in his head and pin them with adhesive tape in the best place;
III. Sew the eyebrows following the mold;
IV. Now, sew the nostrils in his snout.

13. Now, let’s make his fire:

I. Cut some pieces of yellow and orange yarn;
II. Atach them to his tail, like that:

III. Untagle the yarn, like that:

IV. Brush the yarn and it is finished.

14. Finally, it is time to make his eyes
I. Pick up the molds that you have already done and pin them with adhesive tape in a white felt;
II. Cut the white felt;
III. Now, you will paint his eyes. First, paint his iris, which should be red (shiny) or blue (usual)

IV. Wait for the paint to dry and then paint his pupil using black

V. Again, wait for the paint to dry and then paint the light reflect using white

VI. After the paint has dried, use the contact glue to glue the eyes in his face
15. The last thing to do is his teeths. Use white felt to make them. Cut the felt and glue inside his
snout, leaving the tooth tip visible.
