?2.7 FIRE PROTECTION, DETECTION AND

EXTINCTION
Components 典 horncustom designed system.

l2.7.1 FIRE PROTECTION

The alloy structure of the vessel is protected in certain areas by structural fire
protection which is designed to minimize the heat transfer to the aluminium
structure in the event of a fire. Typically a 60 minute structural fire protection
rating will insulate the structure to the extent that it will not rise more than
139? above ambient. Various ratings are used throughout the vessel.

l2.7.2 FIRE DETECTION

A marine approved 典 hornSolid State Fire Detection system is used which
monitors a combination of smoke, break glass heat and flame detectors. The
detectors are 殿 ddressablein that they are able to be accessed through the
central touch pad to enable alteration of detector setting.

possible fire.

l2.7.3 FIRE EXTINCTION

Three levels of fire extinction devices are provided on the vessel:

1. Portable hand held extinguishers

• “Chubb4.5 kg Dry Chemical
• “Chubb3.5 kg CO2

Aft. A 400L hydraulic reservoir plus a reserve tank of 100L capacity, one in
each hull supply inner and outer jet manoeuvring, ride control system, aft
capstans, ramp, roller door, lift and dingy davit. Each unit is fitted with two
electrically driven pumps and one PTO driven pump. The PTO driven pumps
is the primary supply to the ride control at sea. The electrically driven pumps
supply peak demands to the ride control in rough seas and to the jets when
berthing and prior to engine start. Either pump supplies the ramp, capstan,
roller door, lift and dinghy davit.

The hydraulic packs are protected by the following ISIS alarms:

Low oil level
Tank empty alarm
High temperature
High pressure filter
Low pressure filter
Stand by pressure
Pilot oil filter.

For circuit details refer to schematic drawings.

?2.14 RIDE CONTROL

The ride control system consists of the following components:

a. Stern mounted trim tabs.

b. Bow T foils (Centred on frame 46?).

c. Associated hydraulic power packs.

d. Electronic and PC based sensing feedback and control system.

The control system is able to anticipate the motion of the vessel in rough
conditions and signals the hydraulic power system to move the control
surfaces to damp the motion. The ride control reduces pitch, roll and bow
heave motions and associated vertical and lateral accelerations. The operator
can adjust the gain on pitch, roll and heave motions to optimise the systems
performance for a specific sea condition, wave direction and speed.

Refer to Part 4 of this manual and Maritime Dynamics instruction manual for
further particulars.

?2.15 OUTDOOR DECORATIVE SAILS

Decorative sun shielding sails are fitted overhead on the outdoor section of Tier
3 aft. This feature provides a level of protection for passengers seated outdoors.
