STATTEMENT OF PURPOSE FOR MSC ADVANCE CHEMICAL ENGINEERING

Chemical and Petroleum Engineering is all around you. The cars you drive are run using
petroleum its tires are made using petroleum derivatives, the engine oil that lubricates the engine
is an output of chemical engineering. The chairs you sit on are made from PVC, the packaging of
products is invariable some form of polymer, every soap, detergent, shampoo that you use has a
cocktail of chemicals. All this and more formed the part of my first class of undergraduate
program at IRGIB Africa University which was a sheer culmination of observations that I had
since my first science class at school. I have always been fascinated with science. I am also a
steadfast believer in the power of science and technology and the endless possibilities that come
with it.
That motivated me to work hard and secure a place at the IRGIB Africa University where I
majored in Industrial Engineering (Chemical Petroleum and environment). I ensured I was
always involved with breakthrough technical developments in the areas of computational fluid
dynamics, reactor design, electrochemical engineering and the like. The whole field of specialty
chemicals and their potential for the electrical vehicle industry has been a topic I have taken a
keen interest in. The same also reflects in the kind of projects and internships that I undertook as
a part of the course.
After graduating summa in the year late December 2016 I joined KASCO where I have been
working on practical implementations in fertilizer and Animal feeds. Here, as a first-hand
witness to the magnitude of impact that chemical engineering can have on the Agricultural sector
my belief in the field has only deepened. Not only can the chemical industry play an active role
in this monumental transition but it can also give rise to new areas of research and cross
pollination across fields.
I hence aspire to do a graduate program in Advanced Chemical Engineering at London South
Bank University to further improve my skill set in this new era which in which specialized forms
of chemical engineering will have a role to play. My hope is to work with the highly acclaimed
faculty as well as the highly motivated student community at London South Bank University.
Because of my enthusiasm in the field. I have always remained on the lookout to advance my
understanding and grasp on the field. My focus has always been on combining theory with its
practical applications. I am sure that the highly acclaimed M.Sc. programme at your university
will help me do this and more. I am deeply impressed and influenced by Dr. Maria Astrid
Centeno Mandafiya's Work in the areas of Enhanced oil Recovery technologies, and Mechanism
of CO2 injection for carbon capture. Moreover I am also excited about the industry collaborations
that LSBU has and also wish to contribute if given a chance to be part of the same.
My undergraduate studies and work experience have given me a strong foothold in the space.
What I now intend to do is a sharp steepening of the learning curve. That requires a unique
platform problem requiring fellow innovators and masters of the craft to sit on one table.
Solutions tackling these problems required numerous discussions with peers and brainstorming
sessions. It wants to increase and augment my ability and to contribute to what I believe is going
to be nothing short of a revolution in the field of Advance chemical engineering. I strongly
believe my decision of doing a M.Sc. course is a step in the right direction.
