Billionaire boy
Billionaire boy is a book written by David Walliams, an incredibly famous British writer. The
book talks about a boy named Joe Spud whose father, Mr. Spud, makes loads of money per day
by selling a new type of toilet paper. The name of the toilet paper was Bum Fresh, it is wet on
one side, and dry on the other side, but Joe is not happy with all the money he has, he wants a
normal friend, in a normal school, with a normal family. So, he went to a public school keeping
the secret of all the money he has, and met Bob, the fattest boy in the school. They got bullied
by two twins, the Grubbs. But Joe, being a silly spoiled billionaire, paid the Grubbs to stop
bulling his new friend Bob. After this, Bob finds out Joe is a multibillionaire and got mad at him
because he wanted to be the one that stops the bulling he is receiving from the Grubbs. Bob
and Joe stopped being friends, but, a gorgeous new girl, named Lauren, wanted to be his friend,
but it was too good to be true. Lauren was a paid actor to be Joes friend, and it was paid by Mr.
Spud, Joes dad. Joe gets mad at his dad and run out of his mansion. He went to Raj's house, the
owner of a candy store, and friend of every child in the country. They went to apologize to Bob
while Mr. Spud was chasing Joe with the police officers. Joe apologizes to Bob for being a
spoiled rich friend and saw Mr. Spud on TV ¿why? Because the Bum Fresh toilet paper made
peoples bottoms purple, and everyone was suing the Bum Fresh company for that, Joe was
back again with his fat and hairy father, well, now his extremely poor father. They became a
normal happy poor family, the happiest of them all.
Personal opinion
I have personally hated this book because it is definitely not the kind of books I usually read. I
like reading fantasy and sci-fi books, so it wasn’t of my liking. Also, the end of the book is silly
and easy, and the book in general is extremely unrealistic. ¿Who would believe that someone
loses all its money in just a day?
But I really liked the way the book was written, it mixes a fist person view, a normal third
person book narration, and a narration that interacts with the reader without drawing the
reader attention out of the book. I really liked that and I think David Walliams is a really
talented writer, but this is not his best book. I’ve read other David Walliams books such as The
Ice Monster and The Worst Kids of the World and both are better than this one.
