1. Please describe your career goals (200 words)
Based on my experience in Media Network Sales for the past three years, in which I assisted a variety of advertisers to reach their marketing objectives, my short-term professional goal is to pursue an MBA which will equip me with all the skills needed to excel as a brand manager/marketing manager of a brand that is ambitious, innovative, and aims to have a positive impact on the society. The iconic TV advertisements of the 90s fascinated me as a child, thus inspiring a lifelong interest in brands. Driving a brand's image and developing creative and disruptive marketing strategies interests me. In the long term, I aim to be a growth driver for a brand on a national and international level wherein I’ll be responsible for developing new business opportunities as well as developing new solutions to customer needs and trying to bring a positive impact on the industry as well as society. 2. Please describe the most significant challenge you have faced so far. How did you resolve it? What did you learn? (200 words)* Over the past four years, I have experienced one of the greatest struggles of my life while endeavouring to pass the CAT exam. I had never taken a competitive exam before this and my results during my second attempt caused me to doubt myself and contemplate giving up. I almost decided against taking it again on my third attempt due to my lack of self-confidence, but I eventually chose to pick myself back up and try once more. During my fourth attempt, I worked to capitalize on my strengths and put plenty of effort into correcting my weaknesses. To quote Kobe Bryant, I have tried to “turn every setback into a comeback”, building on the knowledge I acquired during my previous three attempts. What I have learned is to remain resilient, be creative, and understand that the capacity to create change is within us. Through the process of reframing failure as the gateway to success, I am determined to keep going until I achieve success. 3. Please explain your objectives and goals as they relate to pursuing MBA. Also describe what you think other students may learn from you. (e.g. perspective, skills and expertise) (400 words) After having obtained my Bachelor's degree in Management and gaining three years of experience, I believe this is the right time for me to pursue an MBA. My major motivations for pursuing an MBA included gaining a more comprehensive understanding of business disciplines like finance, Human Resources, and operations, which I was unable to get from my Bachelor's degree. This knowledge will help me to think critically, holistically, and laterally. In addition, I relish the opportunity to study with some of the most brilliant minds from different backgrounds, working together on projects and learning from their various points of view and how to be part of a team. I also see pursuing an MBA along with its extra-curricular activities as an opportunity to build upon my leadership skills, communication, and interpersonal skills in a group setting. The exposure an MBA program provides with its live industry projects, corporate connects and student exchange programs are also critical reasons behind my wanting to pursue an MBA. Pursuing an MBA will also allow me to connect with a wide alumni network, who works as a community, and provide me with an opportunity to connect with people from across domains and help me grow in the industry. A secondary motive behind my pursuing an MBA would be the experience of a residential program that an MBA provides that I’ve never experienced before, the chance of being independent in a highly competitive MBA environment I believe will have a positive impact on me. With my background of having worked for one of the largest media corporations in India, I am certain that people can gain a great deal of knowledge about TV media sales, dealing with customers, and media planning and techniques. As a Network Sales Executive, I had to take care of a large number of media planners and buyers which enhanced my communication and interpersonal skills, which is something my peers can learn from me. The pressure of achieving sales targets and the planning and dedication necessary to do so are also elements I can contribute. Throughout my college days, I held many leadership roles and supervised various projects, so I do possess collaborative and team-building capabilities. My point of view, as a commerce graduate with experience in sales, will offer a unique perspective to my peers, enriching the experience for everyone.
