Statement of purpose

I have always thought Man has been endowed with reason, with the power to create, so that he can add to what hes been given. This is a thought which will always help me to forge ahead, move along in life, learn new things and help this world to be a better place to live in.

I selected Mechanical Engineering as my Undergraduate course as I felt that it provided a strong platform which covered basic fundamentals of every operating system and assisted in opening up many possibilities and interesting challenges before me. Whilst pursuing my undergraduate studies, I was intensely intrigued by the concepts of Operations Research. My interest was further enhanced by my superior performance in this subjects Since then I have covered numerous topics on Industrial Management during the coursework and every new topic that I studied caused my interest in this field grow exponentially. I secured an admission in Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute, one of the premier engineering institutes in India because of an excellent performance in high school which placed me in top 1% of all students. At the undergraduate level too I performed with distinction by securing an aggregate of 7.8/10 till the sixth semester which secured me a rank in the top 10% in the class of 72 students. I have been awarded with the prestigious JRD TATA Memorial Trust Scholarship for securing greater than 75% in 2005-06, 2006-07 & 2007-08 in my undergraduate studies. When I attended International conference on Role of Higher Educational Institutes in Universalization of Elementary Education, I came to know how Enterprise Resource Planning [ERP] can be utilized in designing a software-based framework which will enable any institute to set up an integrated database assisting it in smoother administration and resource utilization.
Before pursuing a post-graduation course, I decided to have a work experience.18 months of my job at R-infra gave me an excellent opportunity to conceive an insight into the financial aspect of power industry. As an operations engineer, I was directly involved in formulation of operational strategies, implementation of the Quality Management and environment and safety management system for which my organization was ISO certified.

As India makes rapid progress in the 21st century, one of her major challenges would be to ensure the proper distribution and efficient utilization of her ever-increasing resources. This shall necessitate the services of accomplished engineers and I wish to be a contributing member of this dazzling growth. The major reason why I wish to pursue my graduate studies in the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore is because it has been one of the pioneers to institute the study of Operations Research and has played an outstanding role in bringing to fruition the research. I want to indulge in extensive research and reach the apex in my career ploughing back my knowledge, expertise and practical experience into society and my country, in particular, to set it on the modern pathway.
I am looking towards understanding the essence of resource optimization, quality management, effective manpower assessment and operational strategies which will help me achieve my long term goal of developing an independent manufacturing unit, I feel that IIMB is the institute which offers me a most extensive scope for achieving my goals and targets
