a Sustainable
Economy

Introduction

The National Institute of Transport (NIT), through the


Centre of Excellence in Aviation and Transport
Operations (CoEATO) has allocated funds to offer
scholarships to Tanzanian female students pursuing
Ordinary Diploma and Bachelor's Degree Programmes
in Aviation and Transport Allied Programmes. Also,
CoEATO has allocated funds to both male and female
students admitted at NIT to pursue a Master's Degree
in Transport Allied Programmes for the academic year
2023/2024. The selection procedure is based on some
Criteria, including the applicant's outstanding
academic achievement, leadership potential, financial
need, applicant's career goals, motivation, and
integrity. For more information, please visit our

programmes for Transport Excellence Scholarship are
shown in the Tables below:

THE SHORT-TERM PROGRAMS UNDER

SCHEMES

Eligibility for Short Courses Scholarship
All applicants are required to meet eligibility criteria
depending on the specific programme applied. The
following are specific guidelines for scholarship
applicant(s) at NIT:
Short Courses Scholarships
(a) The scholarship is open for Tanzanian females
only;
(b) Applicant(s) must have admission letter to
pursue short course for a period of one (1)
week to one (1) year, offered at the Institute;
(c) Needy applicant(s) must provide evidence of
financial need;
(d) Applicant(s) must be not older than 35 years at
the time of application;
(e) Applicant(s) must submit a recommendation
letter from two (2) referees familiar with his/
her academic achievements, character, and
personality;
(f) The applicant(s) must submit a motivation letter
that demonstrates personal/professional
goals, reasons for applying Transport
Excellence Scholarship, contribution of
applicant (Innovation, talents, skills,
leadership potential) and financial need
(maximum 500 words).
(g) The applicant(s) must submit a Curriculum
Vitae (CV) (maximum length of 1 page);
(h) Employed applicant(s) must submit a release
letter from the current employer; and
(i) Applicants must not be beneficiary of other
scholarship awards.

THE LONG-TERM PROGRAMS UNDER
TRANSPORT EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIP
SCHEMES

Eligibility for Ordinary Diploma Programmes
Scholarships
(a) The scholarship is open for Tanzanian females
only;
(b) Applicant(s) must have admission letter to
pursue studies in aviation, logistics,
management and transport technology at the
Institute;
(c) Needy applicant(s) must provide evidence of
financial need;
(d) Applicant(s) must have the ability to
communicate effectively in English both
orally and in writing;
(e) Applicant(s) must submit certified copies of the
original academic transcripts and certificates
in relevant fields as well as birth certificate;
(f) Applicant(s) must be not older than 25 years at
the time of application;
(g) Applicant(s) must submit recommendations
letter from two (2) referees, one must be
academic staff member of the School/
Institute/College/University issuing the
completion certificate and another from
person familiar with his/her academic
achievements, character, and personality;
(h) Employed applicant(s) must submit a release
letter from the current employer;
(i) The applicant(s) must submit a motivation letter
that demonstrates personal/professional
goals, reasons for applying Transport
Excellence Scholarship, contribution of
applicant (Innovation, talents, skills,
leadership potential) and financial need
(maximum 500 words).
(j) The applicant(s) must submit a Curriculum
Vitae (CV) (maximum length of 1 page).
(k) Applicant(s) must not be beneficiary of any
other scholarship awards except for students
under partial scholarship scheme.

Eligibility for Bachelor’s Degree Programmes
Scholarships
(a) The scholarship is open for Tanzanian females
only;
(b) Applicant(s) must have admission letter to
pursue studies in aviation, logistics,
management and transport technology at the
Institute;
(c) Needy applicant(s) must provide evidence of
financial need;
(d) Applicant(s) must have the ability to
communicate effectively in English both orally
and in writing. Applicants whose first language
is not English or did not go through an
education system with English as the medium
of instruction, will be required to prove
sufficient command of English language to cope
with the Study Programme;
(e) Applicant(s) must submit certified copies of the
original academic transcripts and certificates in
relevant fields as well as birth certificate;
(f) Applicant(s) must be not older than 35 years at the
time of application;
(g) Applicant(s) must submit recommendations
letter from two (2) referees, one must be academic
staff member of the School/Institute/College/
University issuing the completion certificate and
another from person familiar with his/her
academic achievements, character, and
personality;
(h) Employed applicant(s) must submit a release
letter from the current employer;

Eligibility for Master’s degree Scholarships for
Tanzanians
(a) The Scholarship is open for Tanzanians
only and Female applicants are highly
encouraged to apply;
(b) Applicant(s) must be admitted at NIT to pursue
a Master’s Degree Programme at NIT.
(c) Applicant(s) must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
in the first Degree or its equivalent;
(d) Staff from other Technical and Vocational
Education and Training (TVET) institutions
are encouraged to apply;
(e) Applicant(s) must demonstrate financial
need;
(a) Applicant(s) must have the ability to
communicate effectively in English both
orally and in writing. Applicants whose first
language is not English or did not go
through an education system with English
as the medium of instruction, will be
required to prove sufficient command of
English language to cope with the Master’s
Degree Programme;
(f) Applicant(s) must submit certified copies
of original academic transcripts and
certificates in relevant fields as well as birth
certificate;
(g) Applicants shall not be aged above 35
years at the time of application;
(h) Applicant(s) must submit

Eligibility for Master Degree Scholarship (Regional


Students)
(a) This Scholarship is open for staff working in
TVET institutions across the SADC countries.
Female applicants are highly encouraged to
apply;
(b) Applicant(s) must have admission letter to
pursue studies in logistics, management and
transport technology at NIT;
(c) Applicant(s) must have a minimum GPA of
3.0 in the first Degree or its equivalent.
(d) Applicant(s) must have the ability to
communicate effectively in English both orally
and in writing. Applicants whose first language
is not English or did not go through an
education system with English as the medium
of instruction, will be required to prove
sufficient command of English language to cope
with the Master’s Degree Programme;

(e) Applicants shall be aged not above 35 years
by the time of application;
(f) Applicant(s) must submit certified copies of
original academic transcripts and certificates in
relevant fields as well as birth certificate;
(g) Applicants shall not be aged above 35 years
at the time of application;
(h) Applicant(s) must submit recommendations
letter from two (2) referees, one must be
academic staff member of the School/Institute/
College/University issuing the completion
certificate and another from immediate
supervisor at the workplace;
(i) Applicant(s) must submit a release letter
from the current employer;
(j) The applicant(s) must submit a motivation
letter that demonstrates personal/professional
goals, reasons for applying Transport
Excellence Scholarship, contribution of
applicant (Innovation, talents, skills, leadership
potential) and financial need (maximum 800
words);
(k) The applicant(s) must submit a Curriculum
Vitae (CV);
(l) Applicant(s) must not be beneficiary of any
