Selected songs s for the Ascension mass of our Lord, 6.00pm Mass - ( May 18, 2023).

Procession.
1) Holy God we praise your name.
1 Holy God, we praise thy name.
God of all, we bow before thee.
All on earth your scepter claim;
all in heav’n above adore thee.
Infinite thy vast domain,
everlasting is thy reign.

2 Hark, the loud celestial hymn,

angel choirs above are raising.
Cherubim and seraphim,
in unceasing chorus praising,
fill the heav’ns with sweet accord:
Holy, holy, holy Lord.

3 Lo! the apostolic train

join thy sacred name to hallow.
Prophets swell the glad refrain,
and the blessed martyrs follow,
and, from morn till set of sun,
through the church the song goes on.

4 Holy Author, Holy Word,

Holy Spirit, three we name thee;
still, one holy voice is heard:
undivided God, we claim thee,
and adoring bend the knee,
while we own the mystery.

2) Praise to the lord the Almighty.

1 Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation!
O my soul, praise him, for he is your health and salvation!
Come, all who hear; now to his temple draw near,
join me in glad adoration.

2 Praise to the Lord, above all things so wondrously reigning;

sheltering you under his wings, and so gently sustaining!
Have you not seen all that is needful has been
sent by his gracious ordaining?

3 Praise to the Lord, who will prosper your work and defend you;
surely his goodness and mercy shall daily attend you.
Ponder anew what the Almighty can do,
if with his love he befriends you.

4 Praise to the Lord! O let all that is in me adore him!

All that has life and breath, come now with praises before him.
Let the Amen sound from his people again;
gladly forever adore him.

Communion.

Rock of Ages.

1 Rock of Ages, cleft for me,

let me hide myself in thee;
let the water and the blood,
from thy wounded side which flowed,
be of sin the double cure;
save from wrath and make me pure.

2 Not the labors of my hands

can fulfill thy law's demands;
could my zeal no respite know,
could my tears forever flow,
all for sin could not atone;
thou must save, and thou alone.

3 Nothing in my hand I bring,

simply to the cross I cling;
naked, come to thee for dress;
helpless, look to thee for grace;
foul, I to the fountain fly;
wash me, Savior, or I die.

4 While I draw this fleeting breath,

when mine eyes shall close in death,
when I soar to worlds unknown,
see thee on thy judgment throne,
Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
let me hide myself in thee.

Come to my heart Jesus.

Come to my heart Jesus, come in a stay. May this Sacraments be my life (x2).

Give me life Jesus, in you I trust. Rule in my heart and make it thy Throne, oh my gentle Jesus, In this
Eucharist reign in , me and make me thy own.

Come to me Jesus, thy kingdom bring, rule in my world, my thoughts and my words. Oh my saving Jesus,
lover of the poor come to me and give me thy rest.

Oh loving Jesus, dear son of Mary life is no gain except in your name, oh my caring Jesus, my only Jesus,
bid me come to share in thy gain.

Hail, Hail my Jesus, Hope of the lost, teach me thy pain, thy gain and thy name. Oh redeemer Jesus I trust
you alone , Now and in all ages to come.

New praises be Given

New praises be given to Christ newly crowned,
Who back to his heaven a new way has found;
God’s blessedness sharing before us he goes
What mansions preparing; what endless repose!”

His glory still praising on thrice holy ground
The apostles stood gazing, his mother around
With hearts that beat faster, with eyes full of love
They watched while their master ascended above

Grant Lord that our longing may follow thee there

On earth who are thronging they temples with prayer
And unto thee gather, Redeemer, thine own
Where thou with thy Father dost sit on the throne.

Recession.

O Jesus Christ Redeemer.

1. O Jesus Christ redeemer,

when thou shalt come again,
upon the clouds of heaven,
with all thy shining train:
when every eye shall see thee
in deity revealed.
who now upon this altar
in silence are concealed.

2. Remember then. O Saviour,

i supplicate of thee,
that here i bowed before thee
upon my bended knee;
that here i owned thy presence,
and did not thee deny,
and glorified thy greatness
though hid from human eye.

3. Accept, divine Redeemer,

the homage of my praise:
be thou the light and honour
and glory of my days.
Be thou my consolation
when death is drawing nigh:
be thou my only treasure
through all eternity.
