Letter of Motivation

I have completed my master degree (2019-2021) with the majors in Industrial Biotechnology in
the Institute of Industrial Biotechnology and Microbiology at Government College University
(GCU), Lahore. I have perused my Bachelors (2014 – 2018) in Biotechnology in summer 2018
in the Institute of Biochemistry and Biotechnology at University of the Punjab, Lahore.

I am writing to show my deep interest in pursuing my further studies in PhD program.

Currently prevailing COVID-19 pandemic has shattered the minds of human beings to reveal its
mystery and to recover victims. World is taking no time to change and this evolving era
enhanced the focus of lifelong learners on advanced knowledge to offer quick and fruitful
solutions. I am the luckiest one to have my clear interest in this field which is going to fulfill my
dreams of serving humanity through amalgamation of natural processes and innovative
techniques. For final year maters research completion, I was selected as researcher in HEC
Project RRG-211 entitled “Immunological Viral and Genetic Basis of Covid-19 in Local patients
at Resource Laboratory for Research in Biomedical Sciences, University of Health Sciences
(UHS) Lahore. My final year research was entitled: “Identification of the most stable
housekeeping genes (HKGs) expression in Covid-19 patients”. This research study was designed
to determine the expression level of housekeeping genes (HKGs) expression to study details of
virus-host interactions. I have learnt molecular techniques like RNA Extraction, DNA extraction
from blood samples, and tissues of plants and animals, Nano drop spectrophotometric analysis,
cDNA library synthesis, Conventional PCR, expression analysis of genes by RT-PCR, Gel
electrophoresis, SDS, Native gel run, ELISA, Western Blotting, basic staining techniques,
Bacterial and Viral extraction and cultivation. Advance knowledge of molecular, immunological,
pathological, Bioinformatics, and Biotechnological aspects are applied in an integrated manner
to carry out this research with the motives to find most stable and reliable housekeeping genes
(HKGs) expression to be used against other Covid-19 compromised targeted genes with the
ultimate goal of transcriptome analysis of SARS-CoV-2 to develop COVID-19 vaccine.

During my Bachelors, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Microbiology, Bioinformatics,

Genetics, Biochemistry, Cell biology, Metabolomics, Proteomics, DNA recombinant technology
and Principles of biochemical engineering have been the major subjects of my studies. , my final
year project and research was based on the molecular approach entitled: “Prevalence, lifestyle
and management of Acne Vulgaris among patients of Lahore region in Pakistan”. In which all
immunologic and microbiological factors, genetic history, and socio-demographic characteristics
of patients with acne were mainly included.

I have presented poster in Skills Enhancement subject at University of Punjab; mainly focused
on the Role of miRNA, receptors, chemicals and growth factors involve in Heptocellular
carcinoma (Liver cancer). More precisely, to study how the up regulation and the down
regulation of miRNA (miRNA346, miRNA 21) lead to Heptocelluar carcinoma.
Further, my avidness to get familiar with practical exposure, I have worked as an internee in
Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial research, laboratory complex Lahore (PCSIR) at
Food and Biotechnology Research Centre (FBRC) under the supervision of Dr. Yasir. Here, I
have learnt most of Analytical testing techniques of Biochemistry including High Performance
Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Gas Chromatography (GC), Ion Exchange Chromatography,
Silica Gel column Chromatography exclusively, Chemical analysis of Food and bacterial load
calculation of Drinking water, Vitamin Analysis from Skim milk (Defat milk), extraction. I also
determined the water contents, proteins, carbohydrates and lipids percentage in animal feed and
also worked as assistant in fermentation pilot plant, meat, dairy and molecular lab.

Since I have a strong background in basic biological science subjects, so, I would like to broaden
my knowledge to gain expertise in these fields by studying PhD respective programs. In my PhD
program, I would like to study the molecular mechanisms that regulate cell specific
differentiation and development of different organs (especially in animals). In particular, I am
interested in learning basic pathways (transcription network, epigenetic pathway) crucial to
comprehend the positive and negative regulatory loops underlying genomic complex diseases
due to virus and host interaction. I want to learn the application of computational modeling and
advance bioinformatics tools to determine site direction mutational causes to treat incurable
genetic disorders. I am always inspired by the novel and innovative study of science therefore I
planned to move on the land of ideas and sophisticated technology for my PhD studies. I have
completed my master degree from my beloved country. Being from a developing country, I had
limit access to scientific equipment’s and research projects. So, I believe that at your host
country, I will have a chance to experience new productive things in different ways. Creativity
arises when colorful cultures combine as a team, work and experience things together.
Considering both the depths and breadth of these subjects I am eager to learn and learn new
technologies under your supervision. now it is my burning desire to secure PhD position at your
venerable institute. My academic struggles, grades and scientific research domain validate that I
am a perfect match for the offered PhD programs. I believe that I have gained a very little
knowledge and there is always a room to learn and relearn. Since I prefer to promote the
scientific ideas so, I will adopt teaching and research as profession in future with all of my
externally diversified and internally unified background knowledge and experience. I would be
very pleased to have the opportunity to continue my further studies in PhD.

In case you need additional information, please be so kind to let me know about it.

Thank you very much for your cooperation and efforts in advance.
