Course Syllabus in Physical Education 4

Course Name PHYSICAL EDUCATION 4 ( PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES TOWARDS HEALTH AND FITNESS 2)
Course Credits 2 units
Course Description This course is intended to give the students a practical knowledge of the purpose and value of wellness and physical
fitness activities. The students will be able to demonstrate individually and with others the physical skills, practices,
and values to enjoy a lifetime of active, healthy living. This course will strengthen their knowledge on physical skills
by rediscovering for themselves concepts governing their way of moving and performing skills. Also the course when
applied will lead to the improvement of their health and skill-related components as they perform various forms of
physical activity.
On the other hand students will be taught Traditional Filipino Games, Aside from significant sentimental reasons
others believe that it should be preserved to the Filipino children for they think that Filipino games like Tumbang
Preso, Patintero and others alike help improve a child’s physical and motor skills as well as strategic logic and since
most Filipino Games are team games, teamwork and sportsmanship as well as self-confidence and leadership skills
are being emphasized on a child while playing these games.

Course Outcomes 1. Understand physical fitness in all its forms (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) in all P.E subjects as an
important part of maintaining an active lifestyle.
2. Develop interest towards physical fitness activities and create awareness of the need for a physically fit population
as part of the nation’s development program.
3. Apply learning experiences in physical activities that promotes formation of positive attitude, behaviours and
character development to reduce stress, anxiety and depression.
4. Engage students in challenging the perception they hold about the value of leisure and recreation activities as
viable and rewarding forms of physical activity.
5. Manage one’s knowledge, skills, and values for responsible and productive living through Recreational Activities.
6. Identify different Traditional Filipino Games to develop teamwork, sportsmanship and self-confidence.
