deployment, maintenance and support of Electronic Ticketing and Payment Systems, as well as
delivery solutions.
Our Electronic Ticketing and Payment system is a living example of the digital revolution we are set to
trigger at KaCyber. The System leverages advanced technologies such as KaCyber eWallet, Smart Card
and optical QR code.
Currently, KaCyber supplies and maintains robust digital ticketing and payment systems that enable
transport operators to break through the digital barrier. Some of our partners include Uganda
Railways Corporations, Starlink Coaches, Highway Coaches, and Malayika.
Our systems provide convenient and speedy ticketing and payment experience to our partners and
their Customers. Our systems are preferred for their RELIABILITY, SECURITY, EFFICIENCY,
CONVENIENCE, COST-EFFECTIVENESS and EASE OF USE

OUR VALUE PROPOSITION

Our Electronic Ticketing and Payment Platform solution offers many benefits, including but not limited
to the following:

Increased Service efficiency for the Transport

Operator:

a) The Digital Ticketing and Payment System shall assist Transport Operators to cut down Operational
costs and reduce revenue loss from multiple fraud sources (such as fare evasion, internal fraud,
among others). This will help the Operator to identify actual business performance and contribution
(in real-time) against the investment;

b) The Platform shall provide a more ‘closed’ audit trail to help the ferry Operator to respond more
effectively to business demands at all times.

Offers convenience for commuters:

Our Digital Ticketing and payment system minimizes the need for commuters to queue for tickets.

Revenue Collection:

a) We partner with Transport Operators to solve the complex revenue collection challenges by
providing an easy to use Digital Ticketing and Payment platform;

b) Transport Operators can leverage on KaCyber’s eWallet which is already connected to all local
Mobile money providers, offering various payment options and works across multiple devices to
enable anyone with a smartphone to purchase a ticket from anywhere anytime.

Cost-saving:

a) Use of Mobile applications powered by KaCyber eWallet: When passengers use the KaCyber mobile
applications or website to purchase a ticket, the Transport Operator saves money because the cost of
customer acquisition will be minimal on the Operator side;
b) Our existing large social network serves as an important element of marketing Transport Operators’
services in a cost-effective manner.

Travel data collection:

a) Our E-Ticketing and Payment Platform provides valuable data on the behaviour and mobility
patterns of users. The Platform stores and transmits precise data to facilitate informed transport
policy and service planning. The data collected can be an invaluable asset that contributes to building
a better national security centralized Data Center;

b) Customer Loyalty Management: The additional information collected on commuters’ trips and their
profile, may also open the way to offering customer loyalty and reward schemes and a better
understanding of the customer’s needs and journey patterns. This assists Transport Operators to
manage Customers’ expectations while building a strong Customer Loyalty with them.

How did your team come up with this idea/solution? What current research or preliminary findings inspired
your solution?

The idea was born after several challenges we had with booking travel tickets to go to
villages, especially, during the Christmas and New year festivities. Since the process of
acquiring a travel ticket on the bus in Uganda have been largely manual, It always involves
standing in long queues to book a ticket to travel to the Village during Christmas days. The
other reason that compelled us to come up with the idea was the fact that we carried out
research in Uganda and found out that conductors and clerks always take advantage of the
manual ticketing processes to fraud revenue from the bus operators. This prompted us to
come up with a digital ticketing and payment system for buses, trains and ferries to help the
transport operators monitor their revenue in real-time and have proper accountability of all
the revenues collected.
What are your next steps? Is there anything about your idea that you are currently stuck on and need
support with from the community?

We have a few transport operators that have joined our platform and using it such as Uganda
Railways Corporation; the only commuter train in Uganda that operates within the city, Starlink
Coaches, Highway Coaches, Maliyika Coaches; they all travel to western Uganda.

We would like to onboard big fleet clients like Global Coaches, YY, Link, etc, but this requires
funds to do marketing, hire field application engineers and business development officers for
easy deployment of the system, Point of sales machines to run the solution, internet, server
storage space to house data for the big clients, more research and development to improve the
efficiency of the digital solution, and to scale our goods delivery service. We use AWS to host
our system. We believe acquiring the big shots in the transport sector will increase our cash
flows and help to create more jobs for the youth.
