Introduction

E-hailing services are known to be on-demand vehicle


acquisition that relies on network dependency and use
of a specific digital application through the Internet.
The objectives of this study were to investigate the
adoption of e-hailing services from the initial inception,
issues in adoption and the direction of e-hailing services
within the context of Malaysia.

What is the brief description of the e-hailing industry in Malaysia??

Intermediation business (e-hailing) is a service provided to book public transport


services through electronic applications. These services include e-hailing vehicles
and taxis.

What is the difference between E- Hailing and Taxi?


A destination is given and the car owner drives the passenger to the given
destination. The fare is fixed; so unlike with taxi drivers, you do not get
the last-minute discussion for extra payments. You can either opt for a
credit/debit card payment, or pay by cash. But E-Hailing is more attractive to
the passengers

Why is E – Hailing important in Malaysia?

The e-hailing services have had a significant influence on consumers, as


they have offered them with a variety of options when it comes to private
transportation. As long as the market is functioning effectively, e-hailing
services will provide consumers the lowest costs and highest levels of

comfort.

users can hail a car from any location and have it arrive in minutes. Uber doesn't even need
to ask you for an address. It knows where you are

“E-hailing is charged based on a fixed fare but taxi's charge their rides based on a meter. It
will be a disadvantage to e-hailing drivers during peak hours as they are only subjected to a
maximum 2 times higher fare
What are the e business issues in Malaysia?

Current challenges for the eCommerce industry include adopting


new digital tools, cybersecurity threats, lack of digital marketing
skills, limited production capacity, high logistics cost, and lack of
knowledge regarding market access and regulations in cross-border
eCommerce.

What are the issues faced by e consumers in Malaysia?

The challenges such as economic condition of the country, low


wages of labors, low internet access, lack of awareness of online
purchasing, e-readiness, high cost and legacy of fast internet.
Future Outlook on E-hailing in Malaysia

The success of e-hailing services in Malaysia was highly dependent on the that would
be used to tackle these issues, which involved the services and the income of the
drivers.

APAD tightened the background check for all e-hailing by regulation.

Initiatives related to the e-hailing service include regulating the application


asintermediary services (Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD), 2016)

Major projects such as the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) systems being planned, with
several initiatives launched by the government to allow e-hailing

The legalization of e-hailing services also opens up a new dimension that can be
regulated to ensure every stakeholder will benefit from the inclusion.
