ENGLISH A1 -TASK 1 to 4

Task 1

My nephew was born in 2016 in Bogota. 6 years old, and He is intelligent, kind, and very cute. His
parents are Laura Lopez and Felipe Vega. He studies at the MonteHelena school in Teusaquillo. His
favorite classes are math and English. He learns another language which is French. His favorite
activities are drawing and painting. And he likes to play Nintendo, basketball, and football with me
on weekends.

Task 2

Comparing two supermarkets like D1 and Justo y Bueno, I find differences in some products like
chicken, D1's is bigger and cheaper than Justo y Bueno's. D1’s pork ham is cheaper and tastes
better, it costs $4,980, while the one from Justo y Bueno costs $5,590. On the other hand, D1
brownies are more varied and delicious than the ones from Justo y Bueno. Justo y Bueno whole
wheat bread is more expensive than the one from D1, costing $2,450 while in D1 is $1,690. Finally,
D1 juice brands are more interesting than the ones in Justo y Bueno as Hit.

Task 3

Dear Nicolas

Thanks for the letter! I want to tell you about my family. Most of my uncles and cousins are living
in the United States. That’s why a few of my family members are here in Colombia. I live with my
dad, my mom, my sister, and of course my nephew. My dad is a marketing professional. My mom
is a general service coordinator at the Gran Estacion Mall. My sister works for a Canadian logistics
company. My nephew is studying at Montehelena College. All students can even learn French
there.

Task 4

I often go out with my nephew to play basketball and football on Saturday. I sometimes go to the
gym during the week or on the weekends too. I lift weights three times a week. I hardly ever go to
Karate classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I usually ride the bike with my father and sister on
Sundays. I sometimes just play video games in my free time. I like to listen to music too when I'm
in a good mood and when I'm studying. I go swimming once a week after English classes. On
vacations, I play with my family board games.

Task 5

My neighborhood is in Hayuelos, Lantana. I live in a 3-room apartment on the 1st floor. It is quiet,
and there isn’t any crime. My neighbors are so kind and friendly. There are some parks and sports
fields. There is one mall called Hayuelos Mall. It’s a great place for eating, shopping, and going to
the cinema with your family and friends. However, I don’t like one thing about my neighborhood:
There’s a lot of traffic.

Task 6

Dear cousin

I hope you're well! I am writing to tell you about myself and my best friend. My best friend is
Alejandro. He is medium height. He’s in his twenties, and studies Medicine. He has curly brown
hair with green eyes. He is a very kind, humble, and intelligent person.

On the other hand, I am very tall with short black hair. I wear glasses and I have dark brown eyes.
And I am studying software engineering. I tell you that Alejandro and I went to pick up an old
Canadian friend named Sofia at the airport, and she came to visit us for the first time.

I hope one day you come to visit me.

Task 7

Hi, Juan

How have you been? We haven't seen each other since tenth-grade two years ago.

I tell you that I finished school last year, but I haven't started university yet. Other than that,
nothing much has changed. I still live in the same apartment with my parents. I have been studying
at a pre-university for three months called IDAE standardized tests. Now, I am studying English at
Smart Hayuelos. The education has been good, with good teachers and the dynamics of the classes
have been excellent. I've even been going to the gym more often.

Task 8

Two weeks ago, my sister, my dad, and my nephew tried Hache De Hamburguesa at 4 pm, a
restaurant located in Chapinero. I had a classic cheeseburger with French fries. The hamburger
was big, and it was delicious, especially because of the texture of the meat. The French fries were
a little salty. For my drink, I had a soda, and I didn't order anything for dessert. What I liked the
most about this restaurant was the size of the hamburgers and I would recommend Hache De
Hamburguesa, for the quality of its hamburgers, the place is not very expensive, and it has a nice
atmosphere with good service.

Task 9

One of the most interesting places to visit in Colombia is El Cerro de Monserrate. It’s located in the
eastern mountain range and is, 3152 m high above the sea. Previously, Monserrate was called the
Cerro de las Nieves, in honor of the Virgin of Montserrat in 1620. You can reach Monserrate on the
funicular, which will take you to the top of the hill quickly. By cable car, where you will better
contemplate the city and the hike, depending on your physical condition and comfort with the
altitude. Arriving, you can take photos, eat in a nice restaurant, and buy crafts with your family.

Task 10

Task 11
At Smart, all my classmates and I got together to throw a class party. We plan to make some
hamburgers, pizzas, or empanadas. Some classmates are going to be in charge of making invitation
cards with the date and time (Friday at 6 pm), some teachers are going to be in charge of the
decorations and organizing some games: water balloon war, chairs game, and limbo game while
others are in charge of music and other classmates are going to bring the food and drink. The party
will be outdoors, and we hope everyone will attend.

goals of their lives through proper education. A father is one who stands rock solid beside his
family and protects them from the evils of society. He acts as the root of his family and binds each
member with love and respect.
