Introduction
Alloy steels are designated by AISI four-digit numbers. The first two digits represent the
main alloying elements, and the last two digits indicate the carbon content present in the
alloy in hundredth of a percent. They contain a wide variety of steels having compositions
which exceed the limitations of Mn, C, Mo, Si, Ni, Va, and B set for carbon steels.

The following datasheet gives an overview of AISI 1335 alloy steel.

Chemical Composition
The chemical composition of AISI 1335 alloy steel is outlined in the following table.

Element Content (%)

Iron, Fe 97.3 - 97.92
Manganese, Mn 1.60 - 1.90
Carbon, C 0.330 - 0.380
Silicon, Si 0.15 - 0.35
Sulfur, S ≤ 0.040
Phosphorous, P ≤ 0.035
