Mother and Baby
Look at the baby elephant with its mother. Baby animals look like
their mothers. A mother elephant has big ears and a long tail. A baby
elephant has ears and a tail, but they are small. The mother gives her
baby milk. Soon her baby will be big, too!
This giraffe is a good mother. She teaches her baby to use its long neck
to get leaves from tall trees. The baby giraffe stays near its mother.
Baby crocodiles hatch from eggs. They eat and go to sleep. Their body

Life Cycle of an Apple Tree
Apples are a yummy fruit. There are a lot of different types and colors of
apples; yellow apples, red apples, and green apples, too. They are very
healthy to eat. Apples grow on trees.
When the apples are big, they fall on the ground. There are a lot of small,
brown seeds inside. The seeds grow into a plant. The plant gets bigger and
bigger. Then the plant grows into a tree!
Next, flowers grow on the tree. After the flowers grow, little apples start to
grow on the tree. The little apples grow bigger and bigger.
Now the apples are ready to eat! I get apples from my apple tree. Mmm!

Time Zones
There are different time zones in the world. When it is morning in New
York City, it’s night in Seoul, South Korea.
Sophia is from New York. It’s morning and she’s at school now. Lee is from
Seoul. It’s night and it’s time for him to go to sleep. When Sophia goes
home after school, Lee wakes up and goes to school!
People in different places do the same things. They eat breakfast, lunch,
and dinner. They get up in the morning, they brush their teeth, they go to
school. They do these things every day. But one thing is different. The
two places are in very different time zones. When it’s night in New
York, it is day in Seoul, and when people are asleep in Seoul, they are
awake in New York!

This instrument is a piano. There are black and white keys on the
piano, and all of them make different music! Some families have a
piano at home. Some people play the piano at a music class. People

This is a flute. There are no keys on a flute, but it has eight holes. You

and make puppets!
Find colored paper to recycle. Cut out a circle. Glue it on the clean

hair. Reuse arms and legs from old teddy bears!
