ABSTRACT
Introduction:
Research is an essential element in the field of medical education. As a Healthcare
professional it’s mandatory to have exposure to Research methodology as early as possible.
It will help them to validate and publish a research paper and achieve in their medical
career.
Objectives:
To determine the Knowledge Attitude and Practice of Research methodology among
undergraduate medical students.
Methodology:
This is a questionnaire based Cross sectional study in which 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Professional
MBBS students were included. Previously validated standardized questionnaire was used.
The responses were analyzed by frequency distribution and Pearson’s chi-square test.

Students who are well-trained in research methodology will fare better than students who
have limited exposure.

The study was conducted at Panimalar Medical College Hospital and Research Institute under the
guidance of Prof DR. Gayathri Devi [Department of Pathology]. The study protocol was submitted
to the IHEC board and the approval was given at 1st August 2023. A previously validated cross-
sectional based questionnaire was circulated to the undergraduate medical students comprising of
1st 2nd 3rd and 4th professional MBBS students. The responses were analyzed by frequency
