COURSE NAME Multicultural Diversity in Workplace
COURSE DESCRIPTION 3 units
CONTACT HOURS / This course describes the skills, knowledge and performance outcomes required to manage multicultural diversity in workplace
WEEK that covers organization’s diversity policy, encouraging diversity within work teams and upholding the benefits of a diverse
workplace. It should also develop the ability to communicate with people from a range of social and cultural groups with respect
and sensitivity, and to address cross- cultural misunderstanding if it arises together with the legislation that focused on diversity in
the workplace. The end goal is for the student to be equipped with social awareness and diverse understanding when serving
customers and working with colleagues.
PRE-REQUISITES LEC: 3 hours per week
LAB: None
COURSE OUTCOMES Upon the completion of the course, the students will be able to:
Explain what is Multicultural diversity and its importance and benefits in Hospitality and Tourism industry workplace.
Illustrate what is diversity within team works in a workplace via group collaboration using online conferencing.
Identify what is Cross-cultural communication and overcoming cultural barriers within the workplace.
Convey ideas from different legislations that focused on diversity in workplace.
Justify the importance of social awareness, of stereotyping and diverse understanding with colleagues and in the work
Explain the meaning of “cultural conditioning” and “inner-leadership” in a diverse workplace.
