COURSE NAME/ TITLE FILIPINO PERSONALITY AND SOCIAL WORK
COURSE DESCRIPTION Provides students with the knowledge on human behavior and social environment, with particular emphasis on the
person-in-environment dynamics, concepts, theories and indigenous perspectives for understanding Filipino behavior
and culture in relation to social work.
CSAV VISION Colegio de Sta. Ana de Victorias envisions itself to be one of the leading educational institutions in Negros Occidental
in the development of globally competitive professionals, endowed with excellence as socially responsible Christians
animating the core values of the school.
CSAV MISSION The community of Colegio de Sta. Ana de Victorias is dedicated to the pursuit of quality and holistic education to form
students into becoming good Christians, competent, empowered, compassionate, and socially responsible members
of society, capable of committing themselves to contribute to the development of our country.
CSAV OBJECTIVE To develop well-rounded individuals responsive to the country’s call for efficient, effective, and responsible workers
and entrepreneurs by providing them with high level of academic thinking, behavioral and technical competencies
through up-to-date information, state-of-the-art educational facilities and standardized training courses to enable
them to live meaningful lives in their respective fields of specialization.

OUTCOMES COMMON TO ALL The graduates have the ability to:

OUTCOME COMMON TO THE Graduates of the Social Sciences and Communication Programs are able to:

b) Execute social research using appropriate approaches and methods; and
c) Practice professional and ethical standards in the fields of social sciences and communication.
PROGRAM OUTCOME SPECIFIC The BSSW curriculum adheres to the global standards for social work education and training but particularizes in
TO SOCIAL WORK contextualized and indigenous nature of social work practice. The following are based on the global standards but
give special reference to the Philippines context:
1.Demonstrate knowledge, skills, and attitudes in engaging in a generalist helping process and planned change
process for therapeutic, protective, preventive, and transformative purposes.
2.Analyze critically the origin, development, and purposes of social work in the Philippines.
3.Critique the impacts of global and national socio-structural inadequacies, discrimination, and oppression on quality
of life.
4.Apply knowledge of human behavior and social environment with emphasis on the person-in-situation dynamic for
social work assessment and intervention.
5.Critique social welfare policies, programs, and services of the locality, country and/or region in terms of relevance,
responsiveness, accessibility and availability to target populations.
6.Engage in advocacy work to promote socio-economic and cultural rights and well-being.
7.Generate resources for networking and partnership development.
8. Identify with the social work profession and conduct oneself in accordance with social work values and ethical
principles.
9. Engages in social work practices that promotes diversity and difference in client systems.
10 Use supervision to develop critical self-reflective practice for personal and professional growth.
11. Produce a portfolio of recordings, cases studies and other social work documentation to reflect the quality and
progress of practice.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES As a humanizing profession, the course aims to enable the students to:
1. Demonstrate competence of the Social Work Knowledge, philosophy, values, ethics, theories and practice that
have evolve through the decade as a response to changing and dynamic society.
2. Articulate the problem solving framework and the social systems through an empowerment base perspective.
3. Actively participate in various academic and non-academic activities, workshops, and other initiatives to share
knowledge, talents and resources towards the actualization and fulfillment of a shared vision.

4. Discuss core Filipino vlues, patriotism, and nationalism highlighting the major contributions of significant Filipinos in
Philippine history.
5. Draw insights from the theoretical knowledge into personal and professional growth as a social worker.
