Chess Enthusiasts Invited to the BCA Candidates Tournament
Calling all chess players! The Bulawayo Chess Association extends a warm invitation to the
2023 BCA Candidates Chess Tournament, an over-the-board event taking place from
December 16th to 17th at Gifford High School.

TOURNAMENT REGULATIONS
1. The tournament will be played in accordance with current FIDE Laws of Chess.
2. The tournament will be played over 6 Rounds as a FIDE Rated, Swiss System
3. The Time Control will be 60 minutes+ 5seconds increment from move 1.
4. The games will be played using Digital clocks; and pairings will be done using Swiss Manager and
published on www.chess-results.com.
5. Spectators are not allowed.
6. Default Time is 15 minutes.
7. Tiebreaks to be used to separate score groups
i. Buchholz Cut 1
ii. Sonneborn-berger
iii. Direct Encounter
8. Prize funds to be shared equally by players on the same number of points.
9. Recording is compulsory
10. Recording sheets are a property of the organisers.
11. Electronic devices and mobile phones are strictly banned from the playing hall.
12. There will be no games bulletins and analysis will not be permitted in the playing area.
13. Alcohol, smoking and eating are prohibited in the playing hall.
14. No draw offer before black’s move 30
