 INVITATION

Zimbabwe Chess Federation cordially invites the chess community to the over-the-
board 2024 Zimbabwe Easter Open Chess Tournament. This is a FIDE Rated
Standard Tournament to be held at Regency Flamboyant Hotel in Masvingo, from 29
March -1 April 2024.
Registration opens on 16 March 2023 and closes on 27 March at 2000hrs. Pairings
for Round 1 will be published on Chess Results Server on 28 March at 2130hrs, for
confirmed and paid-up entries only.

ENTRY FEES

Payments shall be made in US$

1. OPEN SECTION & LADIES SECTION
a) ZCF AFFILIATES $ 5.00
b) NON-AFFILIATES $ 10.00
c) Free Entry [(GMs, WGMs, IM & WIMs ]

2. DEVELOPMENT SECTION (U16)

a) AFFILIATES $3.00
b) NON-AFFILIATES $5.00

NB: Registration fees must be received in full prior to closing of registration.

Registrations received after the deadline will attract a $ 5.00 late entry penalty and will
miss Round 1.

Ladies Section - 60 players
Development Section (U14) - 100 players

MAXIMUM 200 TOURNAMENT SUBSCRIBERS OPEN & LADIES SECTIONS.

AFFILIATED PLAYERS WILL RECEIVE FIRST PRIORITY FOR SLOTS, IN THE
EVENT THAT THE TOURNAMENT IS OVER SUBSCRIBED.

 TOURNAMENT REGULATIONS

1. The tournament will be played in accordance with FIDE Laws of Chess.

2. The tournament will be played over 9 Rounds as a FIDE Rated, Swiss System
tournament.

3. The Time Control will be 60/60 minutes +10 seconds increment from move one.

4. The games will be played using Digital clocks; and pairings will be done using
Swiss Manager and published on www.chess-results.com.

5. Spectators are not allowed.

6. Walkovers to be claimed after 15 minutes.

7. Tiebreaks to be used to separate score groups

i.Bucholtz Cut 1
ii.Head-to-head
iii.More wins as Black

8. Prize funds to be shared equally by players on the same number of points.

9. Recording of moves is compulsory up to the last second.

10. Recording sheets are the property of the organisers.

11. Electronic devices and mobile phones are strictly prohibited from the playing hall.
Cellphones will be left at Security Desk at owners risk.

12. There will be no games bulletins and analysis will not be permitted in the playing
area.

13. Alcohol, smoking and eating are prohibited in the playing hall.

APPEALS

Appeals should be submitted in writing to the Chief Arbiter within thirty (30) minutes after the
end of the round in question, with a USD $20.00 deposit. The deposit is refundable, if the
appeal is successful.
