Letters From An American Farmer Analysis
It was once stated, Work out your own salvation. Do not depend on others. In other
words, take care of your own life. Forbear from seeking aid. Many people have
immigrated to the United States in search of the American Dream by themselves,
pursuing a place to call home, a stable job, and a happy life. In Letters from an American
Farmer, J. Hector St. John de Crèvecoeur attempts to persuade the Europeans that
America is unequivocally the land of opportunity worth moving to by causing them to
feel empathy and by having them procure the logical conclusion on their own.
Employing the use of metaphors, the French aristocrat aims to draw out empathetic
feelings from the audience. For example, he writes, In Europe, [the poor] were as so many
Akbash Dog Case Study
The white Akbash Dog is from
Turkey and claims both sighthounds and Mastiffs as ancestors. The breed was imported
into the U.S. in the late 1970s as a livestock guardian, and by 1986, had established itself
as one of the most successful livestock guardian breeds, protecting livestock from
predators, including coyotes and bears.
The Akbash Dog stands 27 to 32 inches tall and weighs 75 to 140 pounds. It is white
with a double coat. The undercoat is dense and soft. The outer coat comes in two lengths:
either a medium coat that lies flat or a long coat that has a distinct ruff and profuse
feathering. The Akbash Dog should show features of both the sighthound, with his long
legs and deep chest, and the Mastiff, with his broad head, height, and weight.
Exploring The Idea Of The Baroque Art Era
For my Installation piece I have decided to explore the idea of The Baroque Art Era.
The Baroque is a period of artistic style that concentrated on exaggerated processes and
lavish designs.
Starting in Rome in the early 1600 s, The Baroque style began after the Roman Church
was in the middle of monumental internal reform, attempting to address the
representation of the arts within the society of the time. They believed that a change in
the way art was delivered to the masses was necessary to reach a larger audience.
The Council of Trent believed that the paintings and sculptures in the church needed to
appeal to the masses and therefore their context and story should be able to speak to the
illiterate and not just the well educated and informed. This consequently saw the style
turn deliberately from the witty, intellectual characteristics of the 16th century Mannerist
art, to a more internal appeal aimed at the senses. It created an art that was direct, simple
and obvious but theatrical.
Swiss Art Historian, Heinrich Wolffin defined The Baroque as the age where the oval
replaced the circle as the center of the composition and the colouristic and painterly
effects began to become more prominent .

Examples of Baroque paintings and designs can be seen in Peitro da Cortona s works,
including the Glorification of the Reign of Urban VIII created in 1633. His use of
dynamic composition, irrational lighting, dramatic gestures and poses, and miraculous
effects accentuate the
The Musical Segments Of The Film Snow White And The...
There have been many animated movies that were very popular during the 1940 s and
50 s. Some are still watched and have been recreated in today s times: Snow White and
the Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio, and Dumbo. Although not the first animated movie to be
created, Fantasia (1940) was the first movie to connect classical music with animations.
Directed by James Algar and released in 1940, this movie was the first of its kind, using
classical music and creating scenes with animations around that music or vice versa. This
movie contains eight musical segments all narrated by Deems Taylor with different
music and animations like Mickey Mouse, fairies, flowers, dinosaurs, figures from
mythology, animals, and spirits for each of the scenes. As... Show more content on

After falling asleep, the brooms had the room overflowed with water and Mickey could
not find or remember how to make them stop. As a matter of fact, in this case the story
came first...and the composer wrote the music to go with it. (Grant). In contrast to what
Joe Grant wrote, none of the other segments in Fantasia had the music created for the
animation, the music was there first and then created the animations based off of the
music. Throughout the creation of this film, there were over 700 animators that
worked closely with director, James Algar to make sure every detail of the animations
were perfect. These animations were extraordinarily precise as objects came to life or
moved on the exact beats going along with the music. It simply takes the audience into
a magical world of what is going on throughout the segments whether it be with spirits
or dinosaurs. Starting out as a failure after being released and barely making any
money, this movie is one of a kind as it rose to fame and reached its peak as the 22nd
most grossing film. Fantasia was the result of many great relationships and collaborations
in the Disney film industry, between the animators, composers, musicians, producers, and
directors. Fantasia was the first commercial film shown

Lee s Do the Right Thing In the fighting and rioting scenes toward the end of his 1989
film Do the Right Thing, Spike Lee uses the misc en scene and camera angles to
demonstrate that racial tensions are still strong between the white police officers of
Brooklyn and its black citizens. He accomplishes this through the various actions the
police officers take depicting their poor handling of the situation and the effects of it
taken on by the black rioters. The first of such scenes depicts how the police handled

Power In The Crucible
Early colonial times in what is today the United States of America reflected a period of
hardship and struggle amongst all people, particularly those of certain classes, races, and
genders. Such a problem was particularly evident through the mistrust attributed toward
women at the time, as society was strictly patriarchal. In Arthur Miller s novel, The
Crucible, the various accusations towards witchcraftilluminate the unjust attitude that
was shown toward women, thereby highlighting the belief that any womanin power is to
be considered dangerous, or in this case, a witch. This is first demonstrated in act one
when the very first accusations are made. When Reverend Parris first caught the girls
in the woods with Tituba dancing, the first reaction of the town was to declare
witchcraft. Since dancing was prohibited by the oppresive theocratic government, this
launched the town into disarray. The girls of the village, who, at this point, were the
lowest of the low, were now the ones in charge. Now, what happens when a group of
girls come into a great deal of power, they get branded of being witches by the
government. High court officials, such as Danforth, cannot fathom that these girls and
women would be able to come up with an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mary Warren uses this to her advantage by saving Elizabeth proctor from accusations
from Abigail. This gives her a sense of dominance over John Proctor, who through that
era s standards, would rightfully and be permitted to control and direct her. This, of
course, is just morally and ethically wrong. However, one could say how Mary Warren s
power went to her head, eventually leading to her accusation of witchhood from Abigail
and the other girls, and then ultimately turning on John Proctor and accusing him of
being in dealings with the
