ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

This project would never have been possible without the support and guidance of

various people at the Ifugao State University and College of Computing Sciences.

First and foremost, the developers would like to thank their College Dean of

Computing Science Mr. Ryan R. Tejada for the constant encouragement, and noble

guidance with great pleasure and gratefulness. They also extend the deep sense of

gratitude to Mrs. Minerva M. Fiesta for giving them patience, guidance, ideas,

encouragement, advice and an opportunity to accomplish their paper and intensify their

knowledge through this project. Without their help and dedicated involvement in every

step throughout the process, this paper would have never been accomplished.

A special thanks also to their family. Words cannot express how grateful they are,

for all the sacrifices that they made. Finally, they thank God, for letting them through all

the adversities they have experienced. For giving them the strength and encouragement

especially during all the challenging moments in completing this thesis. They are truly

grateful for your exceptional love and grace during their entire journey. For unselfish and

boundless guidance day by day. Thank You!

ABSTRACT

People find ways to develop innovations that make life easier along with security.

Numerous studies have been conducted and carefully analyzed to provide the needs of

the growing society.

This study is focused mainly in the development of an Automatic Door Lock with

Face Recognition and Detection System to give access only to authorize personnel of the

College of Computing Sciences of IfSU Potia Camps through the unique and efficient

capability of a microcontroller utilized as well as the programming language used. This

project is developed to address the current issues of the computer laboratories of the

College of Computing Sciences in terms of access. Issues encountered during the

utilization of the computer laboratories were carefully considered and analyzed in order

to formulate the objectives of the study. By the system’s implementation, the locking

system of computer laboratories will be more efficient and secure and periodic

replacement of locks will no longer be an issue.

Results show that through computed estimated Cost Benefit Analysis and Return

of Investment, predicted Payback period of the project is no more than 1 year 11 month

and 15 days.
