7. CONTROLS
The remote control system is a fully automatic system for marine propulsion equipment. It
is microprocessor based and features BUS Interface.
The following basic functions are incorporated:
Stepless selection of set points is provided by means of a suitable controller from the
bridge. Set point selection may be linear or non-linear. The selection of any number of
break points is possible and may be varied by changing the parameters. The timed
sequence of set point changes can be chosen free and any number of breakpoints may
be selected. Time variation is possible both for ahead and astern movements with any
number of steps ranging from seconds to hours.
The automatic operating system can be matched to the data of the specific propulsion
system by means of a parameter display. The necessary parameters are stored in an
EPROM. It is possible to select two operating modes for controllable-pitch propellers:
Combinator mode (2 program curves for different operation modes)
Constant speed mode.
Furthermore a program for the fire fighting mode (Fi-Fi Mode) is available, in case of
using the fire fighting pump.
The system is designed to provide automatic load control as well as an input for CHIEF
LIMIT. A non-linear asymmetrical load controller limits fuel injection and so prevents
overloading of the engine. Provision is made for input signals to be processed from the
safety system, such as SHUT DOWN and SLOW DOWN. A fault logic function ensures
that defined conditions are maintained or are returned to by the system, in the event of
defects arising.
The power supply for the system to be provided by the board net:
24 V DC +30/ -25% continuous main supply
24 V DC +30/ -25% continuous battery supply for emergency purposes
Provision is made for no-break change-over to the emergency supply. Power supply of
the other system components comes from the central unit.
