DON’T LOOK UP

Adam McKay's comedy-drama Don't Look Up examines the current situation of the
world in a way that is both humorous and alarming. In the film, Jennifer Lawrence as
Kate Dibiasky and Leonardo DiCaprio as Dr. Randall MIndy, plays as astronomers who
find a large asteroid that is headed straight for Earth and would create an
extinction-level disaster. Right after the two scientists were ignored and made fun of at
the president’s office and so the pair embarked on a media tour to warn the world of the
impending doom, they are met with indifference and skepticism from politicians, media
personalities, and the general public. The film takes aim at our collective apathy towards
climate change, politics, and social media, all while delivering sharp and witty
commentary on these issues.

Visual Effects:

The visual effects in Don't Look Up are impressive and contribute significantly to the
film's overall impact. This comet is a central element of the story, and the visual effects
team has done an excellent job in creating a realistic representation of the celestial
body. The comet’s size and movement are very realistic. The film's climactic scene
involving the comet’s impact is particularly noteworthy. The use of visual effects in this
scene is both spectacular and terrifying, leaving a lasting impression on the audience.

Sound:

The sound design in Don't Look Up is really impressive. The use of popular songs by
artists such as Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga adds an extra layer of humor to the film's
scenes. The sound team has also done an excellent job in creating realistic and
immersive soundscapes, from the roar of the comet to the hum of the impact of the
comet.
Cinematography:

The cinematography in Don't Look Up is visually stunning and adds to the film's overall
aesthetic. The use of wide-angle lenses and handheld camera movements creates a
sense of urgency and chaos, particularly in scenes involving protests and riots. The
film's use of color grading is also noteworthy as it creates a distinct visual style that
enhances the mood and atmosphere in each scene. The use of color grading also helps
to differentiate between different locations and time periods in the film's nonlinear
narrative structure.

Editing:

The editing in Don’t Look Up is visually stunning. The editors gave justice in the editing,
especially the asteroid scene. There's an extended montage towards the end of the film
where we see the world's response to the impending asteroid impact. The seamless
cuts between various news channels, social media feeds, and political speeches, it
almost feels like a real news broadcast. Another standout aspect of editing is when
Leonardo DiCaprio's character delivers a speech at the end of the movie. The editing
helps accentuate the intensity of these scenes.

In conclusion, Don't Look Up is a great movie. This movie made me realize how
ignorance and apathy can lead us to a very dangerous place. I liked this movie because
of the fact that it is very interesting, it’s not like those cliche movies. I liked this movie
because of the message it conveys. People is not interested in something if they are not
directly affected by it, that is seen in the where Kate Dibiasky and Dr. Randall Mundy
broke the supposed “heartbreaking news" to the president and when they went to the
news to tell the people about the “ planet-killer” comet. This movie also show capitalism
where in they terminate the mission because the CEO of BASH found out that there are
valuable minerals inside the comet. Instead of killing the comet they decided to cancel
the mission and tear the comet apart so they will be able to get the valuable minerals
inside the comet. And I liked what they did at the end, they decided to have dinner as if
they were not going to die. They had dinner like a family and talked about things, life,
and the things they are thankful for. Lastly, visually stunning and technically impressive
film that effectively uses visual effects, sound, and cinematography techniques to
convey its message and enhance the audience's experience. The film's use of these
techniques is not only visually stunning but also serves to highlight the absurdity and
urgency of the situation depicted in the film. The visual effects team has done an
excellent job in creating a realistic representation of the asteroid, while the sound team
has used a nice mix of music to create an unforgettable experience for the audience.
The cinematography team has used wide-angle lenses, handheld camera movements,
and lighting and shadow effectively to create a visual style that enhances the mood and
atmosphere in each scene. Overall, Don't Look Up is a technically impressive film that
uses a range of techniques to convey its message and enhance the audience's
experience.
