DAILY LESSON PLAN
Teaching Dates TTH: 9:30-10:30 am, 10:30-11:30 am
Quarter 3
and Time March 2024
I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard Geologic processes that occur on the surface of the Earth such as weathering, erosion, mass wasting, and sedimentation (include the role of ocean basins in the
formation of sedimentary rocks)
B. Performance Conduct a survey to assess the possible geologic hazards that your community may experience. (Note: Select this performance standard if your school is in an area
Standard near fault lines, volcanoes, and steep slopes.)

purpose of the
lesson
MUDFLOW WEATHERING
Based on the pictures presented. Give them 2-5 minutes to share their idea. Ask the following questions:
C. Presenting Present a real-life situation. Ask learners if they have encountered or knew about mudflow and weathering as well as another phenomenon related to them.

of the new lesson
EXOGENOUS PROCESSES
-In extreme cases, it can wipe out majority of the organisms inhabiting that area.
WEATHERING
•The disintegration of rocks, soil and minerals together with other materials through contact with Earth’s subsystems
WEATHERING
Physical Weathering
Chemical Weathering
•New or secondary minerals develop and sometimes replace the original properties of the minerals in the original rock or soil
• CONTRIBUTORS:
•ACID RAIN –may cause metals and stones to corrode or deteriorate and change their properties
EROSION
Process by which earth’s surface is worn away by wind, water, or ice. Moves rock debris or soil from one place to another
•Takes place when there is rainfall, surface runoff, flowing rivers, seawater intrusion, flooding, freezing and thawing, hurricanes, wind, etc.
MASS WASTING
-Movement of large masses of materials (rock debris, soil, mud) down a slope or a steep sided hill or mountain due to the pull of gravity
•DEBRIS FLOW- Happens when a large amount of sediments, usually rocks of various sizes, falls down the slope. Does not need water to flow down
• MUDFLOW- Happens when combined soil and water flow down a slope. Usually happens near rivers or streams where soil or sand is always moist or has been
soaked in water for a long time.
• SLUMP- Slow movement of soil along a curved surface. In time, the area would look curved because of the depression formed by the sinking of the land.
SEDIMENTATION
-Accumulation of materials such as soil, rock fragments and soil particles settling on the ground.
- Over time, the sediment load becomes thick and forms a new layer of ground
ENDOGENOUS PROCESSES
•Takes place within or in the interior of Earth. The driving force is the thermal energy of the mantle. Responsible for earthquakes, development of continents,
mountain
MAGMATISM
•Magmatism happens when a magma is generated and develops into igneous (magmatic) rocks
•The process can take place either under the surface or on the surface of Earth.
•Magmatism happens when a magma is generated and develops into igneous (magmatic) rocks
•The process can take place either under the surface or on the surface of Earth.
VOLCANISM (PLUTONISM)
•the magma is formed.
•Magma tries to escape from the source through openings such as volcanoes or existing cracks on the ground.
•As soon as magma reaches the surface of the earth it is now called lava.
F. Developing Venn Diagram – Compare and contrast physical and chemical weathering. Use the diagram below to organize your answers. (5 pts

about the lesson
1. The process of breaking down rocks either physically or chemically is called __________________.
2. ___________________ is the breakdown of rocks into pieces without any change in its composition.
7. The separation and removal of weathered rocks due to different agents like water, wind, and glacier is called ____________________.
9. The process in which the weathered materials carried out by erosion and gravity settle down in a particular location is called ________________.
10. ____________________ is a chemical reaction wherein rock forming minerals react with water and form different kinds of clay minerals
