Children
Television influences the psychosocial development of children. The average child watches almost 14 hours of television
per week, which limits time for things such as reading, playing and building relationships. This limits the physical, mental, and
social skills that all children need. Television can also lead to increased obesity and it affects a child’s learning and academic
performance. While some things on television are good, such as Sesame Street that teaches racial harmony. cooperation,
etc., many things children see on television is a negative influence.
