In this lesson, students will: At the end of the lesson students should be able to:

1. Introduction: Playing a video describing family members and descendants.

2. Activities: Students draw a family tree of their family.

3. Activities: Students write an essay draft (introduction, body content, and conclusion) about a family member that
influenced them the most.

4. Closure: Teacher gives feedback on their essay individually. Students make necessary corrections.

Learning Teaching and Activities:


1. Introduction: Introduce the topic – how to debate.

2. Activities: Students are divided into 4 groups to discuss 5 points and 5 explanations on:

a. What are the strengths of having families close by?

b. What are some challenges of having family close by?

3. Activities: Presentation in debate mode of 2 groups per session. 20 minutes per session.

4. Closure: Teacher and other groups give feedback and comments for each session.

1. Introduction: Ask students if they can trace their family members all the way back to the older generations. Get
students to do a quick mind-map about their family trees. Introduce the topic – about genealogy

2. Activity 1 : Shows a video related to the topic.

3. Activity 2 : Asks students opinion – are they interested to trace back their ancestors. Divide students into groups
– they have to answer questions in page 7.

4. Closure: Discuss the answers in class.
