Xilinx ISE Native Installation Guide Native version is small and fast but can

cause problems on Win11 and up!


1. Create a Xilinx Account at https://www.xilinx.com/myprofile.html
2. Download Xilinx ISE installation archive (version 14.7) from
https://www.xilinx.com/support/download/index.html/content/xilinx/en/downloadNav/vivado-design-tools/archive-ise.html
Note1: Chose section ISE Design Suite (below section Multi-File Download) from the download page.
Note2: You will need to login into your Xilinx account to begin the download.
3. Acquire an installation license for Xilinx ISE (read Page 2 for details).
4. Unzip and launch xsetup.exe from the ISE installation kit (installation kit size is 6.2GB on disk);
follow the installation steps (read from Page 3 for details) and allow access for Windows Firewall when asked.

Acquire an installation license
1. Visit the Licensing Solution Center at https://www.xilinx.com/support/licensing_solution_center.html
2. Access Xilinx Product Licensing Site.
3. Login into your Xilinx account if required and click Next.
4. In the Product Licensing page select ISE Webpack License
and click on Generate Node-Locked License.

5. Click Next in the following steps. In the final page you will be informed that the license has been mailed to you.
6. Access your mail account and download the license file (usually named Xilinx.lic).
7. Start the installation (step by step guide in the following pages).

Note: The installation ends here, but further operations need to be caried out. Read the following pages for details.

Fix the program by turning off SmartHeap
Note: These steps are mandatory immediately after installation!

1. Navigate to the following Xilinx ISE install directory: <install_path>\Xilinx\14.7\ISE_DS\ISE\lib\nt64\

2. Rename the file "libPortability.dll" to "libPortability.dll.original".

3. Rename "libPortabilityNOSH.dll" from the same folder to "libPortability.dll". (NOSH = NOSmartHeap)

4. Navigate to the following folder: <install_path>\Xilinx\14.7\ISE_DS\common\lib\nt64\

5. Rename the file "libPortability.dll" to "libPortability.dll.original".

6. Copy the new "libPortability.dll" from <install_path>\Xilinx\14.7\ISE_DS\ISE\lib\nt64\ to

Launch the program and register with the license file (required once at 1 st launch)
Click the ISE Desing Suite 14.7 icon on Desktop to launch the program. 1

message appears at

from the menu: Help >

Click on Load License… button and select the license file from disc (the .lic file received on mail).

Note: After applying the license, the Expiration Date becomes Permanent for some components.
