A SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN MELC-KINDERGARTEN

I. OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the day, 100% of the pupils will be able to:

 perform simple addition of 1 to 5 objects or pictures/drawings.


 add numbers within 5 using various objects and
 understand the concept of addition as combining two or more groups
into two or more groups to find a total.

II. SUBJECT MATTER:

Topic: Addition

Reference: MELC Kindergarten quarter 3, week 6 page 18 (MKSC 00-12)

Materials: Pictures depicting the number addition from 1 to 5 objects

III. PROCEDURE:

A. MOTIVATION

1. The teacher will show number flashcards up to 5 and let the student identify the
number by stating it aloud.

2. The teacher will ask the pupils to clap based on the number shown on the
flashcards.

3. Obtain numbers 1 to 5 from students. Use this to teach simple addition and
counting.

B. Presentation

1. Display the finger-counting chart and different objects on the board.

2. Ask the students to sum up the objects they see on the board.

3. Use the finger counting visual aid to sum up the objects with the children.

4. Discuss the objects and the process of addition by simply adding all of the
objects provided.
5. Two students in the class will roll a dice, and the entire class will count and
dictate the numbers on the dice.

6. The teacher will then count them together with the students and record the
results on the finger-counting chart.

C. Application
 The teacher will write numbers on the gloves, which the kids will then add and
count using cupcakes and place on the baking dish with the correct answer

E. Application:
Directions: Give me thumbs up ( ) if it is good for growth and
thumbs down ( ) if not.

IV. GENERALIZATION:
 Can you give foods that our body needs?
 What are the things you do to grow healthy?
V. EVALUATION:
Directions: Encircle the things that is good to our body and cross out if
not.

VI. ASSIGNMENT:
Directions: Cut the pictures of your favorite food
D. Generalization

 Summarize the lesson using the activities that the students completed.

IV. EVALUATION

 Provide another worksheet with addition problems involving numbers up to 5


for students to practice independently.

V. ASSIGNMENT

 Give students an additional assignment on addition from 1 to 5 in their


notebook, using shapes as the object.
