PRELIMINARIES (2mins)
Prayer Prayer
-Let’s start our day with a prayer. May I *Ms. Anna will lead the prayer and everyone
request everyone to please stand up, Ms. prays*
Anna will you please lead the prayer?
Greetings Greetings
- Good morning class, How’s your day? - Good morning, sir, we’re doing great sir

Since its early in the morning and I’ve

observed that your so quite in this time. So, (Student actively participating)
we will be going to dance as our exercise to
loosen up and as will as serve our
energizer. I know that you’re familiar with
this song because this is trending in
Facebook and Tiktok. So, we will go with
the trend also.
So, are you ready class

Song played: Selos by sharia

Okay! Thank you everyone I hope that you

feel energized by that dance so that we will
have an active discussion later on.

Checking of Attendance
- Classmate monitor, who are absents Checking of Attendance
today? *Everyone is present sir *

- okay that's good! I’m so glad that no one

is absent for today. I see that everyone
wants to learn.

Checking of Assignment
-Since we’re now done with the checking of
Checking of Assignment
attendance before I forget, did i give you an
assignment last meeting class?
- No sir.
Okay, did you read and review your notes?
Glad to hear that.
-yes sir

A. ELICIT (3mins)
- Now before we proceed to our topic allow
*Class familiarizes the objectives
me to present to you our learning objective
for today’s lesson.

 Describe the horizontal dimensions

of uniformly accelerated motion.
 Calculate the uniformly accelerated
motion of the horizontal dimension.
 Appreciate the application of
uniformly accelerated in daily life

At the end of lesson, you will learn about

characteristics of horizontal dimension like
the variables of it and after that you will to
solve uniformly accelerated in some real-
life problems and lastly, the what is the
importance of understanding uniformly
accelerated in our daily life.

- yes sir!
Okay, did you understand?

-Let’s have first a short review to check if

you have learned something from your
previous quarter. During in the first quarter
the topics that you have discuss fall under
the branch of science called Biology – study
of life(respiratory, circulatory and even
photosynthesis and other related topics of
it)and during in the 2nd quarter those topics
fall on Chemistry, you focus on matter.
During the 3rd quarter we’ve talk about
volcanoes, climate and arrangement of star
basically fall on the branch of science called
earth science. Now, what about for this 4th
quarter. what do you think which branch of
science we’re going to talk about?

Anyone? Who has an idea? - Sir physics!

Okay very good! Its physics we will going to

study about matter and energy and how
they interact one another.

Who among of you remember the three

(Students raise their hand)
laws of motion?

Can you please recite those three laws of - Law of inertia, Law of acceleration and
motion? Law of interaction

Okay very good!

In Grade 8 you have learned about

Newton’s Second Law of Motion – the Law
of Acceleration. According to this law, the
net force (F) is equal to the product of the
mass (m) of the object and its acceleration
(a), F=ma.

 Can you state this Law?

Let’s have a simple activity to refresh your
mind.

Direction: State the Second Law of Motion

by completing the paragraph below.
Choose your answer from the two words
inside the parentheses for each number.
Newton’s Second Law of Motion:

The Law of 1. ___________

(Inertia/Acceleration)

The acceleration of an object as produced

by a net force is 2. ___________
(directly/inversely) proportional to the
magnitude of the net force, in the 3.
___________ (same/opposite) direction as
the net force, and 4. ___________
(directly/inversely) proportional to the 5.
___________ (mass/weight) of the object.

It is good that you can still recall the Law of

Acceleration! Remember that the larger the
force applied on an object, the larger its
acceleration. Usually, the acceleration of a
body may change and vary from time to
time due to several factors.

If that is the case, when can we say that

there is constant acceleration?

Today’s lesson, we will focus on describing

uniformly accelerated motion: Horizontal
Dimension

B. ENGAGE (5mins)

Before we begin our lesson, let’s play with

some anagrams. You must form word that
corresponds to the indicated description. Go
back from your group.

DISTANCE; IT DANCES – length of space

between two point

VELOCITY; LOVE CITY- tells how fast a object

moves towards a direction

ACCELERATION; OCEANIC ALERT- rate of

change of velocity with respect to time

MOTION; TINOMO- a change in position from

one place to another

Are you familiar with these words?

- Yes sir
Okay! Can someone enlighten us what are
those words?
What is really a motion?
What are the differences of speed and velocity? (student answer may vary)
What are the differences of distance and
displacement ?
What are the differences of time and
acceleration?

C. EXPLORE (20 minutes)

There are actually different types of motion but

in this quarter, we will be going to discuss
about what we call “uniformly accelerated
motion.

Can anyone tell me what do really mean by

uniformly accelerated motion? Or when is an
object in a uniformly accelerated motion?

A body is said to have uniform acceleration if it

maintains a constant change in its velocity in
each time interval along a straight line.

By the this uniformly accelerated motion can

be in X-axis and Y-axis. But lets focus on the
horizontal.

For example: An object is moving from rest and

accelerates uniformly at a rate of 2m/s2

TIME SPEED
(seconds) (m/s)
1 2
2 4
3 6
4 8
5 10
Are we say that this object is accelerated
- Yes sir!
motion?

Definitely because it says it accelerates

uniformly at a rate of 2m/s2means it gains (students listen attentively)
2m/s2 in every second. So, it’s getting faster
and faster in this rate. Others than that we can
say the its uniformly accelerates because on
the interval of the speed with it gains 2m/s2

TIME DISTANCE
(seconds) (meters)
1 2
2 4
3 6
4 8
5 10

Can follow what I am talking? Did you get it?

Okay! To understand it more clearly. Let’s have

another example of UAM and let’s try to
visualize this example

 A ball rolling down an incline

 A car moving with a constant
acceleration
 An object is dropped from a certain
height
 A ball is thrown vertically straight
and goes down

Let’s discuss this one by one.

D. Explain (15 Minutes)

Now let’s go with the equations in horizontal

4 UAM equation
V f =V i +at
2
d=V i t +1/2 a t
2 2
V f =V i + 2 ad
Vf −Vi
d= t
2

 How many variables that is within

these equations?

1. Vf= Final Velocity

2. Vi= Initial Velocity
3. a= Acceleration
4. t= time
5. d= displacement/distance

Guide questions:
 What is the unit of Velocity?
 What is the unit of Acceleration?
 What is the unit of time?
 What is the unit of
displacement/distance?

Sample problem:
 Form rest a car accelerated at
8m/s2 for 10s.

a. What is the position of the

car on the end of the 10
seconds?
b. What is the velocity of the
car at the end of the 10
seconds?

 What is asked for the letter a? How

about letter b?
 Who will try to solve the letter a?

 When you’re going to solve, you

need first to have three variables.
With this you must analyze carefully
the given question.

Let’s try to solve with the letter a.

 What are the given?
 a= 8 m/s2
 t= 10s
 Vi= 0 m/s

 What is asked again? - Distance sir

The students will try to figure out of

So, we’re going to find out the distance of
the car on the end of the 10 seconds. what formula is best to use with the
d=? problem
 What formula we’re going to use?

The UAM equation were already given.

With these equations, you need to find out
what particular equation you will be using
in finding the distance.

UAM equations:
V f =V i +at
2
d=V i t +1/2 a t
2 2
V f =V i + 2 ad
Vf −Vi
d= t
2

As you can see, there are two distance,

right? So, we need to eliminate the two
equations.

 What will be the next step to

determine the equation that we
need to use to solve the problem?

From the two equations, you just need to

check if the given variables were inside the
equation. If the given variables were
present inside the equation, it is the perfect
equation for us to solve the problem.

 Did you understand?

We already find out the equation for us to

solve the problem which is the
2
d=V i t +1/2 a t

Now, you just need to substitute the value

of the given variables.
2
d=V i t +1/2 a t
Given:
a= 8 m/s2
t= 10s
vi= 0 m/s
d=?

2
d=V i t +1/2 a t
d=(0 m/ s)(10 s)+(.5)(8 m/s 2) ¿
2
d= ( 0 ) +( 4 m/ s 2)(100 s )
d=400 m

Who will try to solve the problem 2? You’re

just going to follow the steps earlier

- Sir

What is the velocity of the car at the end

of the 10 seconds?

Given:
a= 8 m/s2
t= 10s
vi= 0 m/s
vf=?

Formula and Solution:

V f =V i +at
V f =(0 m/s)+(8 m/s 2)(10 s)
V f =80 m/ s

E. ELABORATE (3 minutes)
Horizontal Dimension – X axis

 Are you familiar with the x-y axis or

the cartesian plane?
 Where is the horizontal part of this
graph?
 How about the vertical?

Now, let’s focus first on the horizontal

dimension.

Problem:
 With the initial velocity of 20 m/s, a
car accelerated at 8 m/s2 for 10
seconds.
c. What is the position of the
car after 10 seconds?

UAM equations:
V f x=V ix +axt
2
dx=V i xt +1/2 ax t
2 2
V f x=V i +2 axdx
Vfx−Vix
dx= t
2

 Who will try to solve the problem?

The steps we used earlier are the
same steps of solving with this
problem. It’s just that we put x for
the motion of the car, which is
horizontal.

Step 1:
Identify the given:
vix= 20 m/s
a= 8 m/s2
t= 10 s
d=?

Step 2 formula and solution:

2
dx=V i xt +1/2 ax t
dx=(20 m/s )(10 s)+(.5)(8 m/s 2)¿
dx=200 m+¿ (4 m/s2) (100s2)
dx=200 m+ 400 m
dx=600 m

Class, go to your respective group. We will

be having a group activity.

Group Activity: Problem Solving

Group 1 and 3: A jeepney from rest

accelerates uniformly over a time of 3.25
seconds and covers a distance of 15 m.
Determine the acceleration of the jeepney.

Find: a =?
Formula: dx=V i xt +1/2 ax t 2

Group 2 and 4: A car is moving with a

constant acceleration of 2 m/s2. If the
initial velocity of the car is 5 m/s, find the
final velocity and displacement after 8
seconds.

Find: vf =?
d =?
Formula:
 V f x=V ix +axt
 dx=V i xt +1/2 ax t 2

Each group will be given 2 minutes to

present their output
