Learning Competency: identifies musical characteristics of selected Philippine festivals and


theatrical forms through video or live performances.

I.Objectives:
At the end of the Lesson, the students should be able to:
a.define what makes each of the non-religious festival and theatrical forms unique
b. appreciate the importance of different festivals; and
c. create your own mask or flower by applying the technique of papier mache to your
artwork.

religious Festival and Theatrical Forms
Okay when we say religious what are those
festival they celebrate? Student: The festivals in pahiyas, Obando
Fertility Rite, moriones, Ati-atihan, sinulog and
dinagyang festivals.

Where did Ati-atihan festival do celebrated? Student: In the province of Aklan ma’am

Are your ready class?
This activity will help you to determine our lesson
today, now you are going to observe and anylze
what is the video and pictures presented talks
about, but before that we are going to have an
activity that is called “like me and love me” if I
am going to say like me you going to face your
seatmate and if I am going to say love me you are
going to stand forming your hands a heart sign
and which of the students will be caught in the
game, he will be the one to answer or be able to

Non-religious festival – it focus on the cultural


and heritage aspect of our country , and are
celebrated with enthusiasm and passion.
Panagbenga festival- is one of many famous
celebrated in the Philippines and it is held in
baguio, the summer capital of the philippines. Its
english name is the blooming flowers festival,
which means “season of blooming”, is a month
long annual celebration of a tribute to the city’s
beautifully grown flowers, and is celebrated in the
month of February.

Questions:

Masskara Festival – from the combination of the


English word “mass “and the Spanish word,
“kara” ( which means face) , this festival is
celebrated every third weekend of October, or on
the closest weekend to October 19, it dramatizes
the steadfast character of the Negrenses and
symbolizes what the city of smile, Bacolod City,
do best putting on a smiling face even when faced
with challenges.

Questions:

Kaamulan festival – is an ethnic festival that


celebrates the customs and traditions of the seven
tribal groups that originally inhabited the
bukidnon region, the matigsalug, Tigwahanun,
Higaunu, Umayamnun, Manobo, Bukidnon and
Talaandig. They celebrate this festival by telling
legendary stories, reliving ancient rituals, playing
and listening to ethnic music and doing traditional
dances.

valuable and superior in english. The festival is
